That would be cool.

Doesn't sound like The Wasteland is going to be his next film. It also isn't going to be Man of Steel 2.
I hope the next film I make is a very small film without any special effects and not many stunts.
Video interview at link.

I will tell you though that's he's said this sort of thing before.....a few months before it was announced he'd be making the Justice League movie. So anything is still possible imo.

It's understandable, Miller said plenty of times that filming Fury Road (let alone going through 17 years of production!) was really exhausting.

Not sure this is really new but I don't know if any of the other articles/interviews have Miller saying he's actually talking to Warner Bros. about the next Mad Max now.
http://www.topgear.com/car-news/movies/ ... d-director
“So we ended up with two scripts, without really trying,” he added. “We’re talking to the studio [Warner Bros] about it as we speak, but which one of the two stories will happen next, I’m not so sure.”
Oh and like earlier posts:
Miller said, however, that before he makes the next Mad Max installment, he needs something a little less… frenetic. “I want to do a small film without special effects before I do any of that, just to do it quickly,” he said.
Although I like that he says quickly :).

Was just gonna post the Topgear link! I hope it's new news as at least he's talking about mad max sequel again and not forgetting it, although one thing a tad confusing..... We have 2 scripts and were not sure which one we are gonna do next, does that mean both scripts can be called wasteland??

So if a sequel is made, it won't be shown in cinemas in this decade! :(

It makes sense, though. Miller has said that while the sequel has a script, it hasn't been storyboarded. So there is still a LOT of pre-production work to be done on the movie. I figure that while Miller's team takes the year or two needed to hash out the story, stunts and whatnot, Miller will use the time to make a small, personal film.

If the studio wants a movie out fast it will get one out fast. Artistic integrity won't stand up to the potential to make a few hundred million dollars. They will happily ditch Miller if he's a problem.

You have two more scripts lined up. Will they follow on from each other?

They’ll be tangentially linked. They’re all in the same world, but they won’t be direct sequels. During the huge delays on Fury Road, we developed deep backstories from everything from weapons to vehicles to the Doof Warriror who plays the guitar. The film is very helter-skelter, so you have to help the audience pick up as much as possible on the way.
