Hey there,
Just after some help, ive been travelling around taking photo's and visiting the sights.
Im after help with the gate the big bopper drives through,i head down point wilson rd,it says its the first gate on the right before the winding road, before the bunkers.
But the gate doesnt look the same as in current pictures,it has a blue bird sign, number 3 on it,is this the gate?
Also why arnt people allowed to drive down there, all i see is a bird watching area? But the road comes to a scary gate. One that you really cant enter.
Also im after the house down avalon beach,as they have all changed over the times, which is the house or shop used by jessie getting an ice cream.
In time ill drive down to max and jessies house.
Thanks for any help

The look of locations change over 35 years. Heck, it may even be private property as it certainly looks more like a driveway than a road in the movie:-)

When are you thinking of doing this? I wouldn't mind visiting all the locations as well. I figure it would take 2 days (maybe 3).roadwarriormfp wrote:Yes the gate is on the right hand side... and yes.... more modern gates.

Re: help with MADMAX FILMING LOCATIONS
Would really want 3 to 4 days to do photos etc at all the sites.
The Melbourne pumping station would be an entire day nearly as i want to visit the museum part as well.
(leave cars in courtyard for people to view for the day)
No idea when, worried about a long trip in the car from north qld would be frought with breakdowns! lol
Have to be when the rain season is over and definately not winter!.
figured it would take 4 days to drive there from here via the inland route.
May leave the car there for a few weeks and fly home and then fly back to pick it up as i really not fond of long drives anymore.
Just driving to Cairns and back kills me....

Re: help with MADMAX FILMING LOCATIONS
Who own the pumping station now? Would we need to get permission? I'm sure a magazine or two would probably like to do a photo story on it.
You might look into getting the car rail transported or even truck transported. We got a wrecked GS from QLD and it cost $400 to have it delivered on the back of a truck. Heck, if we approach a few mags, they may even spring for the costs to have an exclusive photo shoot.

Pumping station is a museum.... im sure they wont mind having the cars there.
It cost $550 in 2008 to send a car from Brissie to Townsville via road transport, I cant imagine the cost now.
Plus the fact of its very nature would mean too many eyes would be on it, not to mention I have to pay for an airline ticket, so may as well just spend it all on fuel and accom and drive it there.
I do know a truckie however who may be able to help me at least to Brisbane.
