Hi all, found this site while looking for diff widths for my XA Fairmont coupe...

I went into a tyre shop in Christchurch about 6-7 years ago in my xa, the owner told me about the "replica" that he and a mate did. The body was basically a basket case, rust everywhere (funny, more details are coming back as I type), it had no front end, no drivetrain, no interior. The mate owned the land where the pic was taken. They decided to slap together a replica out of some parts they had lying around. From memory, the "long range tanks" were a couple of old gas cylinders they had lying around. They welded it all together, then chucked it on that little mound as decoration. (they were both big max fans) I never saw the thing myself, but a mate lived out that way and had seen it. I dont know if it's still there, but I've got friends out that way, I'll ask them if they know and let you all know. (i dont live there anymore, now in Tauranga NZ)

Oh, and does anyone happen to know what the standard width of a coupe diff is? I got a little distracted looking at this site, and now I gotta go to work......

For the diff width have you checked out the Australian Ford Forums? The Classic section would be your best bet or do a search.

I would think that the hardtop and sedan diff widths are the same. The XW/Y are slightly narrower than XA/B/C/D. Although the spring hangers are the same distance apart so are interchangeable int hat they will bolt up.
I understand the consensus is that XY is 59.5" and XA is 61". This is the measurement between the wheel mating surfaces or "drum face to drum face".
When I measured my XC diff I got 60.75 inches, but you know it is a little tricky as you need wheel nuts that allow the drums to go on all the way without the wheel there. Or the hat of the disc if you are posh and have such brakes, lol.
