SOLO ONE "Jim Gooses " predecessor 1975

Post by roadwarriormfp »

For those who have never seen the show, back in the 1970s there was a aussie TV show called SOLO ONE which starred Paul Cronin as a lone motor cycle cop.

Classic aussie TV series which was aimed at the younger TV viewers as it was from memory shown at 4 or 5Pm (kinda like SKippy!).

The theme music lyrics will be something that any who rides a bike will find appealling in its simplicty!

Thought I would revive this old thread....

Matlock Police started in 1971 (I think) and was set in the ficticious town of Matlock some 95km north of Melbourne.
Its amazing just how many episodes you can hear the crows squarking (just like in Madmax!)

Paul Cronin played constable Gary Hogan who rode the motorbike in the series, which later he play the same role in a spin off series "Solo one".
The series lasted some 6yrs and went to colour as well.

Opening credits from series 2 i think (orginal series had monaro coupes as police cars!)
Here we see Valients...

in colour full episode.... you can hear them crows here!

Homicide, Division and Matlock Police were shown on TV here over the last 4 or 5 years. i recorded many episodes on my PVR. i have kept a few, such as when the Division 4 crew went to the police driving centre to learn how to drive police cars. Plenty of XY's etc fanging around. Also a cool episode with a Bolwell Nagari versus Valiant panel van car chase. Which the valiant won...

I dont remember Solo One being shown. I think Solo One was all colour. the others were black and white.

I note they are flogging some of these old Crawford Productions TV series on DVD (expensive around 60 bucks a set!). i dont expect them to be on TV again any time soon.
