Modifying the Abbyshot MFP badge

Post by HUMVEE Driver »

Here's a quick heads-up about an option for the Abbyshot MFP badge.

I wore the badge on the outside of my right boot, like in the movie. But all that is there to hold it on is that little pin. I found that it was very easy to accidently brush my leg against just about anything and dislodge the pin. Not fun if you lose a $40 dollar badge like that. Eventually, the pin broke off. So, I soldered four nickel-plated rivets to the back of the badge (the badge is copper) and just rivetted it to my boot. Now it's on there rock solid.

Just a helpful tip from HUMVEE Driver!

Yeah, the pin on the Abbyshot badge sucks. I've nearly lost both of my badges because of it.
Soldering and riveting is a great permanent solution.
But if you're not up to soldering, you can do what I did and tear the original pin off, and then use a product like JB KWIK to glue a couple of clutchback pins onto the back of the badge. I did this for both my boot and jacket badge.
