WTF with the XE front bumper?

The body looks better than most, certainly a good base for a project.
LTDHO = Supercharged Intercooled 5.7L 360rwkw, 6 speed

XB Coupe = Stock Fairmont GS with 351 and 4 speed.

But I really want a 600rwhp XB coupe!

I do recall many yrs ago on this forum that someone from NZ had said there was a madmax replica parked in a field!
We all asked for pictures and when none were forthcoming we all had a go at him... lol

Can only assume this is the car he meant?

I think I met the guy!!!!The guy I bought my Dobros gauges/blower switches off, mentioned he saw an interceptor once in a field in a small town called Ohau just outside of Levin, about 9 odd years ago. There's nothing there now, maybe this is the same car moved elsewhere? I'd love to know the actual location of it to get a closer look. I remember the guy saying he tried to tell people overseas about it online and they just gave him the bums rush, which went on and on over the years each time he tried to share or get involved enough so to make him lose interest in everything Mad Max. He called the international community a bunch of narrow minded, selfish doubting w***ers Lol! His words. He wanted rid of all the stuff he had collected over the years!! Been to a few car shows since, and haven't seen him again. Aparrently there is a guy in Auckland who owns a running Mad Max 1 styled interceptior built in Aussie, but I can find no info in it or him.

It's a couple of hours south west from Christchurch. When I was on holidays over there in the first week of October 09 we decided to take the back roads as we travelled towards queenstown and my wife spotted it across the paddock. I got some pics from the road, but didn't go into the paddock as there were cows, etc in there. Thought it was pretty funny as I'd only started on Fury Road a couple of weeks earlier.

Well, there's two sides to that I guess. Firstly I would agree, there are certainly some Mad Max fans around who are overly critical on new guys, and can be too quick to dismiss some things. It would be nice to see a little more benefit of the doubt given in some cases, until proven otherwise. Then again, I've been involved with groups of fans in other areas, and I can tell you right now, most of those other groups have their fair share of narrow minded people as well. So while it is sad to hear a story like that, this isn't unfortunately the only group where you will hear of someone who feels treated that way.

Second to that, we've also had our fair share of hoaxers and scammers over the years - and Mad Max isn't unique to that either. But at the end of the day when you want to make certain claims, you have to be able to some extent back them up. Despite the information that can be found on the page, I still get emails from people telling me they have this or that vehicle parked away, or other stories. Sometimes they're just relaying info they got told and don't know better, sometimes they're trying to tell tall stories and make things into what they're not (Isle of Man Interceptor!), sometimes they're outright lying to try and cash in for a quick buck (Car 17!). And sometimes they turn out to be flat out telling the truth, which is why it's worth at least hearing someone out until all the info is known.

At the end of the day, if the car was sitting in the field in the open like it obviously is, I don't know why he wouldn't have just put a photo somewhere to shut everyone up. It's an odd story, and obviously there would be some here skeptical of it with no other evidence. But there it is, rusting away :)

Strange indeed, how with the sands of time, sometimes the truth can be perhaps revealed. The guy I met if I remember did say he saw a car in a field about 9 or so years ago, also he claimed he saw another Xb coupe rolling shell in a neighbors backyard once, and saw it come up for sale in the classifieds. He was too late and it sold for $1000.00!! We had quite a lengthy discussion as he was at car show with all sorts of mad max stuff, and replica parts. He said he had spent many years chasing an ever elusive dream of owning a replica car, but he was tired of it as he felt he would never realise it. I am pretty sure he did say a paddock in Ohau? Which is s tiny farming town just outside of Levin in the North Island, (I live in Levin so can verify it's not there, now at least) I could have misheard him though as there are many small towns north and south starting with the letter "O". I actually went looking for it as I was quite excited believing it was in the next town from me Lol. All things said and done though, I did manage to get some awesome and authentic genuine parts from him that I love to display in my house. Only a fan would know what they are though!
