Death While Filming...

Post by Brittus »

while there are many movies with rumours of stuntpersons being killed during filming, "Mad Max" has the reputation (at least here in the U.S.) of this being real...

I searched the forums and couldn't find anything about it so I have to ask:

Did someone get killed while filming the 1st movie?
Was any of the footage of this "alledged" incident in the movie?

While to some this may be macabre, I would like to see this rumour verified or vanquished once and for all...

thanks to all, and apologies to any relatives of one who may have indeed passed on

The one I hear of the most is when the biker (wearing the orange helmet) gets hit on the back of the head (Kirks Bridge scene). The guy that did that stunt is dale B and he's very much alive. He's also a member here that has contributed TONS of pics and info to us fans.

I remember being at a car show a while back when someone checking out my car told me that this guy was killed when he got hit on the back of the head by the bike wheel. I asked how he knows this and he said it was a distant relative..... I showed him the autographed pic of Dale (wearing the shirt I sent him that has a pic of my car on it) I have in the photo book I keep with the car and said...."that's funny, I just spoke to him a few weeks back on the phone and he sounded alive to me"

I think deaths while filming movies are very rare but when they do happen it's always big news. I seriously doubt anyone was killed while filming any of the Mad Max movies, otherwise we would certainly know about it.

However, it's amazing that one guy flying in the air cartwheel style in MM2 didn't die!

Apparently the rumours were started by American stuntmen soon after MM1 was released.
Something about jealousy that the aussies were doing really good stunt work?

In any case no one was ever killed in MM1....
Or MM2...

Guy Norris was the stuntman who in MM2 was flung through the air after hitting the buggy, he broke a leg.

The guy that was hit on the back of the helmet was one of the members of the local bike gang they used in the picture. Apparently, according to the actors and stuntmen, he got up and dusted himself off after it.

Yep, more proof aussies are tough and resilient. I know back in 1985 when I really got into the Mad Max movies a huge part of the appeal was they were made in Australia. Then I saw MMBT and I was back in Hollywood again.

Some people try to make out big news from nothing..It's very rare that someone got died while making a movie. I think people should stop spreading rumors.

Dale just admit it, you died.
You are not really posting here.
This is your after life....

When I tell people I'm a MM fan, I always hear how the stuntman died after being hit in the head by a motorbike.
I think to myself, that no one told Dale he died...

So now you know mate.

Oh see ya at the next mad max car show!
LTDHO = Supercharged Intercooled 5.7L 360rwkw, 6 speed

XB Coupe = Stock Fairmont GS with 351 and 4 speed.

But I really want a 600rwhp XB coupe!
