MM3- BLASTER COSTUME

Post by Road Pig »

im thinking of undertaking a blaster costume, i have a likely helmet shell and some boots and trousers with braces, but can anyone help with info on the other stuff?
for example-
the large metal badge on his stomach belt?
the shinguards he wears (look rubber?)
the one arm gauntlet and arm armour he wears. is it a cricket glove? or something else? and is the overlapping arm armour leather?
what are the trousers with laced up sides which he and max both wear in the thunderdome fight? where can i get some?
what are the trousers he wears before the fight?
and if anyone has any info on where i can get that super-sledgehammer, or any of the helmet parts, let me know. :)
i'll be posting pics of my progress

Holy crap.

This is a project I want to see!!!

Sorry but I don't know about any of his costume details. If anyone can make a good Blaster costume, it's you.

Good luck, and keep us posted!

heres what ive got so far-
a big ex police riot glove,
kevlar lined tall ex police riot boots with steel toes (im pretty sure blaster's boots were tall and had steel toes during his "carry master around underworld" day job, though they could well have been steel toe wellingtons)
ex austrian army hard wearing combat trousers with braces (though i think during his day job, blaster wears black american football pants, and im sure his braces are leather, not fabric)
ex police riot shinpads (again i think blaster is wearing baseball shinguards, but im sure i can alter these with rubber)
an ex police chest protector which im going to cut down to seat the helmet on, and maybe add rubber inner tube to, though i believe the shoulder caps are somewhat accurate in shape, just need some rubber edges adding :)
and a cage as a basic frame for the helmet (im going to add metal and gauze etc to this) if anyone can guess what ive used for the helmet, i'll be impressed! it has buckles in just the right place, as ive noticed blaster's helm has two straps which go under the arms, securing it in the same location.
obviously im going to make a thick belt with a shield on the front same as blaster's, and leather/rubber arm armour attatched to the glove too, but so far this is what ive pieced together.

What is the helmet made from? Looks tailor made for any aspiring Blaster.

the helmet cage is from a british ww2 baby's gas mask. it is the metal cradle which holds the gas hood. i had to take off the back part, turn it upside down and bolt it back on to get that helmet like shape. i added the gauze and a piece of sheet steel to cover the lower squares, and i had to beat the part of it which was scalloped to fit the respirator pump, into a more rounded shape, with a big hammer.

Sounds like an interesting object. Any photos of what it was like before?

i dont have any photos of my exact mask before i realised it's mad max potential, no. but heres a couple of images from google, of the exact same model as mine. the first pic is how it looked from the front, and in the second pic you can see the metal cage, and just make out the part which bolts on, the shaped and curved piece at the top front of my helmet, fits under the baby's bum.
