How much of a liar I am...but how come i have a good reason

Post by Road Samurai »

Man, i keep saying i'm going to post my story's first chapter on Night Rider's page but never do! I swear, so much has been going on in my life it's unbelievable. For a little while there I though i was cursed! The ultimate came last week when a beloved pet budgie died. Mr. Green Jeans (or Mr. G as we all like to call him) was not a very friendly bird and my family got him under unique circumstances. In the summer of 1998 my dad noticed a green budgie eating out of the wild bird feeder in one of our side yards (i should mention i'm from vancouver, canada, so budgies are NOT a part of the indigenous wildlife). We had gotten a budgie from a pet store the year before and he was (and is) a real sweety pie i named Lucky. My dad took lucky's cage and put it in the tree near the feeder. Well, about an hour later a lady was walking by and noticed the cage and asked if we lost a budgie. We said it didn't belong to us but we had seen it flying around. she said it was in our neighbor's cherry tree. I went with my mom and took a ladder and got fairly close to him but he wouldn't let me touch him. My dad then turned the hose on him (the only to catch a bird is to wet it down so it can't fly) and my mom picked him up from the grass. He was biting her, and let me tell you that little bugger had a fierce bite that was incredibly painful, considering budgies are quite small. My mom was pretty tough because she kind of giggled. Well, we had him for two years and he absolutely would have died during the winter (even though we don't get much snow and temps are mild compared to the rest of canada). He was free to fly around the house all day (although he never left the family room) like my other bird and led a happy existence. He was very mistrustful of humans though, but a week before he got sick he started to become more friendly and would fly to the couches where we were sitting and sit nearby, and sometimes work up the courage to eat some food off of our plates. Even though he wasn't affectionate or very friendly, it still was quite sad to my family (especially my dad, as Mr. G died in his hands and my dad is an animal person). My dad built him a wonderful oak box and we encased it in cement in the ground underneath the tree where the feeder is where we first saw him two years ago. The cement says "Mr. G (underneath: 10-28-99) "we will miss you". We got a baby bird on sunday, and already he has proven to be just as sweet and tame as Lucky. He's still very shy of people, but he will come around in a week or two. He's a baby blue and white colored budgie, and I wanted to call him "Ozzie" (because budgies are from Oz), but no one really liked that. My mom likes "Monte", because i mentioned before it would be a good name and she drives a Monte Carlo. But, since i often call him "Baby', and he is baby blue colored, we can't decide what name to choose. Maybe you guys can help.

Things are slowing down now, and getting back to normal so I HOPE I WILL POST THE FIRST CHAPTER OF MY STORY NEXT WEEK! Also, i hope Fifties Dream's story isn't similar to mine. Great minds think alike, so they might be carbon copies!

I am really sorry to hear about your bird, Road Samurai. Birds are really cool, though I am more of a dog person myself. I think "Baby" would be a good name for a bird...It sounds cute. As for your story, whenever you have it ready, just mail it to me and I will put it up right then. You have great style in your writing, many people have been asking me about your story so it will be a welcome addition. BTW Fifties Dream: When you finish your story, would you consider having it on my site also? I always love having new Fan Fiction. Once again sorry about your bird, R.S. Take it easy,

Sorry about your bird, that really sucks. I am an animal person and I remember when my cats (Spike and Riley) died on the same day, it was tragic. Anyways, I used to take care of this bird (actually he was an orange wing amazon) and his name was Rudy, I always thought that was a cool name. May Mr G rest in peace.
