Road Warrior... what I just noticed

Post by PursuitSpecial »

I watched the movie again and some new things stuck out this time....

1. The dog in the back seat in the beginning chase would have been thrown to the front as Max slams on his brakes to avoid being shot.

2. Slow-mo through Toadie getting blown up and you can see a white object (I'm assuming air cannon) with lettering on it in the lower right hand of the frame aimed at him.

3. Toadie says "the tanks are full" at the interceptor wreck and opens the cap on one tank, but hardly any fuel comes out. You have to frame through it to see the trickle coming out.

4. Gyro captain says about the compound... "too hard for me, but a man of your ingenuity" and then later just flys right in and lands in the middle of it after Max drives the Mack in.

5. The Red XA passenger puts a good sized dent in the roof of the vehicle when he hits it after pulling the warrior woman down off the tanker.

6. There are flames coming out of the stacks of the Humungus vehicle when it's running the Nitrous. Cool looking... yes. Fuel efficient in a fuel-starved wasteland... no.

7. Max yells to the kid "get the bullets" which bugged me at first since they are shotgun shells, not bullets and he should have known better, but I can reconcile this with the possibility that he was trying to use a term that the kid would more easily understand, rather than the correct term.

8. Max pulls his (supposedly empty) shotgun out for show with Wez, but at the first spotting of the gyro copter brings out a tire iron instead for real self-defense as he knows the gun is not loaded.

9. The first words spoken in the movie are "Don't hurt the snake!"

#1

Didn't dog go Behind Max's seat?

#3

Anti-spill valves on the tanks?

#4.

My Assumption...

The Copter was out of Fuel, (The reason Gyro had laid his trap), so he couldn't just Fly into the refinery. (Assuming they wouldn't just shoot him when he tried to land)
The Rig was some distance from the refinery. "Two Days". Well, One night was spent on the Pinnacle watching the refinery, but that still leaves at least a whole day of travel time..
Max needed safe and quick transport.. he wasn't going to WALK. (Why do ya think he went back up the Pinnacle.. to retrieve Gyro so he could fly him to the Rig.)

Once Gyro had delivered Max to the Rig, he decided to throw his lot in with Max & the defenders so he followed max back to the refinery, Helped him a bit on the way and landed in the compound.. (They'd seen him help Max in the Rig, so they decided he was OK & not to shoot him)

I figured he'd had the crowbar in his hand while approaching the copter, partially as weapon, but also to maybe help open the gas cap if need be.

Besides, it makes sense to conserve ammo whenever possible.

Well by then the defenders were happy they had the Mack and they'd let gyro stay. Also, Max would have plenty of time to explain how Gyro is an ally and not just someone looking for free juice.

I think the idea there is that that is simply how the engine worked under that kind of power, like dragsters; they shoot flames all the time and it has nothing to do with wasting gas.

Max was concerned with the snake at that point (he probably spotted it before he exited the Interceptor)... you can't threaten a snake with a shotgun, empty or otherwise.

Here's a new one: in the opening chase there is a split second in one or two scenes where the guy on the back of Wez's bike is wearing a gold motorcycle helmet, the same kind the bad cops wear. You have to be quick to see it, but I managed to get a perfect screen capture.

I used to know a police dog handler and when looking around his police car I noticed the dogs weren't strapped in. He told me that the dogs were very good at anticipating when he was going to drive hard and they would lie down with their legs spread out to steady themselves.

#7: Max indeed shouts "get the bullet(s)" but he shouts it multiple times and one of those times he says "shell".
"UNDERSTEER" is when you hit the fence with the front of the car.
"OVERSTEER" is when you hit the fence with the rear of the car.
"HORSEPOWER" is how fast you hit the fence.
"TORQUE" is how far you take the fence with you.

Heres another thing i noticed after Max has fulled up the interceptor and leaves the refinery blasting into the early morining and soon after being chased by Wez and the others on the Humungus vehicle when he switches on the blower and as the car goes past the camera it seams to be a different blower as the pully is on the left hand side and not the right which probably is because its the spare car that they blow up and they didnt realy care if it was correct or not. Also as this scene takes place the sun dose come up realy quick.
