Budget double barrel sawed-off shotgun

For less that $30 in material this is what I came up with. I do still need to weather it but I'm happy so far. It did take me quite a while to make, however seeing that I have more time than money these days I had to make do. I'd love a Hudson, but my wife would have a fit if I droped two bills on a gun, especially one that wasn't even real. I started with a cheap-ass toy that you see the box behind it, replaced the barrels with 3/4" pvc pipe an used some ABS plastic strips for the sight. I painted it gunmetal black, and gunmetal grey/ silver, layered the grips in different shades of brown and then finished it off with Minwax Polyshades "American Chestnut". That's a polyurethane stain so it does dry, and actually rather quickly.

Looks like the same plastic airsoft shotgun that I bought (and that used to be widely available but is now hard to find), albeit in a new box/different packaging.

With mine I had to fill in the screw holes along one side. Was this one made differently or did you have to do that? What did you use?

Looks like you decided to go with the mad max 1 paint scheme. Mine is still covered in flat black primer, waiting to be painted one of these days. I've been thinking about how to try and get a wood like for the grip and fore end without having to go through too much trouble. I might do some version of what you did.

Iv been trying to find a gun here in australia but nothing, there was one on ebay a lil while ago in the usa but the guy wouldnt mail to australia.

Thanks for the kind words guys. Yeah, the gun is almost the same as yours with the exception of the barrel on mine didn't have the nice little break off point that yours did closer to the stock. When I cut mine back it totally looked like shit, so I decided to go with the pvc barrels. I used Bondo spot and glazing putty to fill the holes, but it was sort of a pain in the butt and I think bondo body filler or some type of 2-part plastic putty might work better. What I used kept shrinking as it dried an I had to keep going back and filling the low spots, that's one reason why it took so long to make. Also that and the fact the wood grain effect had to be layerd and allowed to dry between each coat.
I know it's not 100% screen accurate but honestly I can't afford to be as accurate with this costume as I'd like due to my narrow pocket book I may at some point begin to up-grade once it's finished, I sure would love to get a Hudson at some point. As of now my next challange will be to get the AFO leg brace without spending a $100 on ebay for it.
