It pains me to do this, but I have decided to gauge interest for my 1976 XC Coupe. Due to some financial constraints, I feel this is the best option for me at the moment. Don’t worry, I am not giving up my dream, I am simply delaying it for the time being. I need to get back on my feet so to speak and take care of some personal financial needs in the short term. In a year or two I plan to bring over another car. I simply don’t have the means to make it happen with my current car at the moment. And I have to think about this decision with my mind and not with my heart.
MAKE NO MISTAKE. This car needs a COMPLETE restoration. That said, it is a perfect candidate for a MM replica, which was my goal to begin with. The thing to remember here is that this car is already in the US. Shipping is done. The other thing to consider is that I have seen rusty rolling shells on eBay Australia going for $6,000 AUD. My car is complete, more or less, save for the bits time and rust have eaten away. LOL. It has a lot of rust in the common areas. I have stripped the car down already so it is ready to be blasted and restored. It has a 302C out of a UTE and a 4 speed manual gearbox. The motor runs and sounded great before I unhooked everything. I have two gas tanks for the car and two sets of doors. All the glass is present and in good shape. To make a nice BoB replica out of this car, only the shell needs to be restored as the body kit will take car of the rest. Furthermore, I have almost all the patch panels needed to fix up the common rust spots, and the remaining panels can be had online pretty easily. In the hands of someone with the right skills and tools, this car can certainly be converted to a Max Max replica in no time.
The price? As of right now, I have roughly $12,500 invested in my XC. I know I have pretty much no chance at recouping that amount of money for my car right now. That’s life. Nonetheless, I have a very reasonable number in my head. I am simply in a bind right now and it looks like I will need to make some sacrifices to get out of it.
The car is located in Reno, Nevada. Please, only reply if you have a serious interest in purchasing this car. I can provide more details and photos to any seriously interested party.
