No I believe Max wore a british army officers Sam Browne belt with the brass hook for a sword, however for the price I call it close enough. Nice find, I just dropped $40 on ebay for the same one a month ago DOH!
I posted about this same belt last year. It's good to know they still have it available.
As was mentioned, this one is brown so you'll need to dye it black yourself (but it's also possible that the one they dyed the one they used in the movie, hard to know for sure). You can get an all-in-one black shoe dye applicator in the shoe section at Walmart if you just want something cheap and easy (it may take a few coats of dye to get it right).
This belt is very close to the one in the movie, but probably not 100% accurate (and we have to remember that items pictured in a big catalogue like sportsmansguide don't always match the photo exactly, I learned that with their nautical knife).
Dragonforce and Karol recently had a very detailed discussion about the finer points of what makes a totally screen accurate Sam Browne belt. Some of that should be on this forum if I remember right.
The main point is this, whether 100% accurate or not, this item is pretty close and would be a great upgrade out there for fans who are using a totally inaccurate sam browne belt (or no belt at all) for their MM2 costumes. I'd say at $14.99 you have no excuse to not have a Sam Browne belt on your Road Warrior outfit. This one will look correct to 90% of fans.
And if someone buys one of these from sportsmansguide, please let us know and post pictures so that we can judge just how accurate it is.
I found shoe dye didnt work too good for me because of the clear coating on the leather, I used spray paint instead. Spray paint works good on leather but NOT on vinyl.
Just to reiterate Jwrites' post, neither the Hungarian nor the Czech belt are what they used in the movie. All you have to do is look at my website http://www.MadMaxCostumes.com to find that out. Jwrites is simply saying that it's an OK alternative mostly because it's inexpensive and from what we have seen, many of the Road Warrior costumes out there seem to have home-made Sam Browne belts. You can still buy a screen accurate British style belt, but they seem to be going for about $50 or so.

You can try rubbing alcohol on the leather item first to take away some of the shine, and beyond that, acetone will help to remove the protective coating, allowing the leather dye to stick better.
Most spray paint will not stick well to most leather. It tends to crack and fall off when the leather bends. There are a few spray paints out there that are specifically made for leather (and even vinyl) but they tend to only be sold in specialty stores. You maybe be able to find out where to get some in your area if you talk to local guys who do custom shoe / leather work.
I would still recommend most people try using shoe dye first before spray paint. It will usually give a better result. Just make sure you're using actual leather dye and not what they call "scuff cover". (Kiwi brand makes bother products)

For reals? I was all excited because in the catalog it said "First time available."
Maybe it's the first time they've had that particular one available, but they had one at $15 last year as well. It was out of stock for a while. They vary from Czech to Hungarian etc.. I'm just glad to see they're back. They also had a $30 one at one point, which was supposedly more "heavy duty" but if I remember right it looked less accurate.
