I think we have a winner. I did a search and it does look like the gun is a Boito. I also ran a quick classified search and found several in the $400-$500 range. Now that I know what to look for, I can probably find one local for less for my short-barrel build. What are your laws like concerning a build like this, Scag? Here it's a bunch of Federal paperwork and a $200 tax over and above the price of the gun.

Close but like many things MM1 not exact. Take a look at the side of the original (no flare) with the new parts (flared out). The original looks like a strait edge from the hand guard to the break. Funny is Max has a different shotgun in MM2 as well as MM3, guy just can't seem to keep continuity...scag66 wrote:This is the best pic i can get to show the details

Great work tracking that info down! I can just imagine all the blank stares you got when going to a gun store and asking about a little-used gun in a 30 year old movie. Very cool that you kept at it and finally prevailed!

I've heard the circumstances surrounding that incident were quite dodgy and makes you wonder if it happened for the purpose of gun control. Could be a future project for jwrites and I if we could find the right shotgun.If i knew how to do it, I would buy an entire shotgun and make a mold or something and sell the only movie accurate MM shotgun replica available.
Hopefully thats a job someone else can get up and running.

That's an awesome find and I hate to rain on anyone's parade, but I'm not seeing any flaring at all in any of those pictures. Also, the checkering looks different and deeper in the movie. About the only thing I see that's the same is the metal piece at the end. Here's a big blow-up from a lobby card scan:
There could, of course, be differences in the model depending on when it was manufactured. So I'm not saying it's not what the guy says it is, or couldn't be, but I'm not convinced. Unfortunately, I have no alternatives for you (although I can see myself getting obsessive in short order).
