Need alittle help with shoulder pad measurement. Thanks!!

Post by tk4013 »

After unsuccessfully searching for the correct Rawlings shoulder pad to go with my Replica Warrior shoulder plate I've decided to give a go at sewing my own.
Has anyone made a template for this or have some rough measurement they could share(front to back, side to side, neck curve dia., ect.), I would greatly appreciate it! I've tried to gauge the measurement from pictures, but after spending $25 on materials I don't want to make it wrong. Thanks again in advance for any imput! :)
Oh, BTW I did find one pair of Rawlings Crusader shoulder pads on the internet for sale.....$250.00....I'll pass

I made the padding for jwrites' costume from scratch. I made a poster board template, but not sure how best to get that to you.
I'm using polyester fabric, high-density polyethylene foam, and vinyl.

Karol, what if you took a photo of the template, with some lines drawn on a piece of paper underneath/around it, showing what the measurements are at various points (probably in CM for all our foreign friends).
The benefit of that is that it could be shown laid flat, which you never see with shoulder pad or underpadding pics on the internet.

I guess I could do that same thing with my pad... if it wasn't at your place. : )

Aw man, if you would do that that would be awsome! I'm sure it would help quite a few others as well. Thanks again fellas for any help you can offer. :)

Karol will probably put up a tutorial eventually, but I doubt he has time for it right now. In the meantime, if Karol puts up a picture that shows some measurements, I'll volunteer to write up a bit of what the process is to make it (as much as I remember anyway).
Then again, if you'd rather take the ball and run with it yourself Karol, be my guest. : )

I have so many detailed photos and tutorials I need to post it's not even funny. And my costume isn't even 100% complete yet.

I'd love to see a template/measurements as well ;)

BTW, What was the actual size of the plates/arch padding Gibson wore based from - M, L, XL ?

I thought if it wasn't asking too much maybe you could tape together a few pieces of computer paper and trace the outline of the pad and mail it to me. I'd be more than happy to cover any costs for the shipping. In turn, I thought maybe I'd draw up a little blueprint with the measurment and stuff and post it on the board for the others. Just a thought. ;)

Ya, I think it'll be better for you if I trace out my patterns on some paper instead. Much easier for you to work with. E-mail me (no PM's thanks).
