Belt, ax pouch, and can opener/knife for sale
Hi,
I am a newbie under this name at least! I used to post here but other interests, life issues etc... absorbed my attention until now when I discover that the go ahead has been finally given for Mad Max 4!!! You Beeeauuuutieeees!!!!
I have what I believe to be the identical belt to what Max wore in the Road Warrior. There has been quite a bit of discussion and speculation ranging from conclusions that the belt was originally brown, then dyed black for the movie, and my favorite: That black versions of this belt were never made with the Brass buckle and other furnishings. Well that MUST be incorrect, as the belt I have has always been black, it is very old (but in great cond) and it has not only the correct buckle and fittings, but no matter how hard I look and compare what I have to the DVD on freeze in various scenes, it is identical in every way, albeit one or two sizes larger than what Max wears. I can only conclude that my belt is of WWII era european manufacture (German, Swedish, Finnish, Ukranian?) I don't really know for sure. But the fact that it exists in my posession clearly indicates that they were in fact made in this configuration, and this is indeed the same type as what formed part of Max's costume.
I also have an original NSW Fire axe pouch the same as Max's, and a similar british army style knife/can opener which are attached to the belt.
I am interested in offering this set to someone who will both value and appreciate it for what it is.
I am no longer really interested in the costume side of things, as my attention is now focused squarely on anticipation of all things Fury Road! and the original cars.
Any interested parties can contact me via: [email protected]
I will provide pictures of above items on request.
Cheers everyone.

Re: Belt, ax pouch, and can opener/knife for sale
It is worth mentioning here also that some years back I supplied the brother of this belt (I have only ever been able to find two) to Jim Martino of best of show inc. who has built some of the finest replica interceptors I have seen. He was also certain that this type of belt was dead on in terms of accuracy, and he was very happy with it.
This belt I have for sale is the last of two I have been able to find. It is to all intents and purposes very, very rare and unique in it's own right.
Hi Jim! If you see this!
Cheers.

Re: Belt, ax pouch, and can opener/knife for sale
Also I would appreciate it if the issue of belt stitching type discrepancies was not resurrected again, as the area originally in question on Max's belt was fully obscured by his axe pouch in the movie, which invalidates any arguments pertaining to the likes of: "the stitching is incorrect, etc...". This argument is Moot to say the least, as I too have extensively perused the DVD footage....all of it, and can find no differences whatsoever.
The original belt I do not believe was a "run of the mill" Sam Browne (brown) belt as popularly accepted, being dyed black. (It is possible, but I believe unlikely). Just looking at the belt with all of it's fittings, folds, rivet areas and general construction, I can wholeheartedly conclude that to dye a brown version black, and do it correctly and accurately would be a time consuming and messy task! Still possible all the same, but odd and unlikely when black versions were probably easily found back then, certainly a specialised costumer like Norma would have had no problems acquiring one in the 80's in any of the plethora of military surplus stores that were abundant in all the major centres and townships
All I wish to do is pass it on to someone appreciative, who will also see it for what it is, and mostly enjoy it for what it is!
I don't wish to discuss semantics Re: this vs that etc.
Cheers.

Last addendum....
I know it was not part of the original movie belt kit, but I also have a very fine sturdy black leather SIG P 226 double clip ammo pouch that looks awesome on this belt, it can be used to hold a smaller mag-lite and swiss army/ leatherman style knives etc...
Let me know if you are interested in this also.
Cheers.

Wow! Gee! Sorry to "irritate" you there. So...after all I have posted here, that's what I get. I could mention "calibre" and not be referring to guns.
Wow!

No offense meant. And there is nothing wrong with what you are offering. I just believe in calling things by their proper names. My post was intended to educate, not chastise.

Re: Belt, ax pouch, and can opener/knife for sale
OK thanks but as a 40 yr male I really think an education is the last thing I need. I am aware the pouch is known as a magazine pouch, that being said I really don't think it matters being that a) it belongs to me so therefore I am able to call it "matilda" if I so wish, and b) it can be implemented to carry all sorts of things apart from magazines for firearms (which I am pretty certain no-one would be game enough to use it for in public anyway).
I do recall that one of the reasons I stopped posting originally on this forum was that one person would claim the sky is blue, and there would always be the obligatory sceptic who would either take offence to their claim or viciously attack them and all they stood for. I have seen some of the most outlandishly pedantic squabbles waged in these forums over the years, and one of the top three would now have to be the attempted "education" of myself that MY pouch that is MY property is in fact a Magazine pouch and not a Clip pouch as I so foolishly stated above.
As I said, thank you for the education that I really didn't require, and a little afterthought would be that next time perhaps when I make an error of such magnitude again, it may be prudent to respond with something as blissfully simple and courteous as: "Hey man I believe what you have there is a magazine pouch, and not a clip pouch...just my .02, but no biggie all the same!"
Thus avoiding any long winded posts like this which I really didn't come here to do.
If you are in the least interested in what I have to sell, then by all means e-mail me for more info/details and pics as outlined above.
Thanks.

Re: Belt, ax pouch, and can opener/knife for sale
As it has created a bit of a stir, and seemingly more attention than the belt/pouch/knife, I think I will forget about offering it for sale ( the magazine pouch) Have I got it right? Is it called a pouch? or something else as well? (please I know it's tempting to take that comment literally, but it is a bit of sarcasm.)
I came on here thinking that at least members of a Mad Max Movies website might be interested in what I have. I am beginning to think perhaps I was mistaken? Maybe this post should have gone under the Bartertown forum? In hindsight perhaps I shouldn't have bothered attempting to offer something up to a bunch of Mad Max enthusiasts, just thought someone on here might be keen to have it for themselves. I'll leave the offer open on the belt for a discerning person for who a make do brown sam browne belt just will not do.
I somehow feel like I should apologise, for what I don't really know. Just trying to help someone who wants the real deal Black version and not some dyed "knock-off".
Things really haven't changed around here at all it would seem.
Cheers.
