At the risk of incurring the someone's wrath for focusing on trivialites...

I was reading the Wikipedia entry (I know--Wikipedia is not exactly gospel) on "Mad Max" and came across this: "Due to the film's low budget, only Mel Gibson was given a jacket and pants made from real leather. All the other actors playing police officers wore vinyl outfits."

Where did this come from? Even Steve Millichamp (if it was indeed him) said this in a 2003 thread, but it's obvious just by looking--particularly in the opening scenes--that Max's outfit is vinyl. In fact, if you look closely as he straps on his shoulder holster, you can see that Max's right sleeve has a big rip, and as he walks around his Interceptor, you can see that his trousers have a big rip across the right knee. I wouldn't call this a continuity error, because it makes sense that he would have multiple uniforms, but it's interesting to me in terms of the order in which scenes were shot.

These are the tiny little things you notice when you step-frame the DVD over and over... What can I say? I'm a little obsessed right now.

My understanding is that it was actually Goose that had the only real leather outfit (which would make sense since he was on a motorcycle and needed some real leather protection).

Now that I'd buy! Australia is too hot for leather unless your actually on a bike in winter.
Anyone know a source for vinyl brando jackets?
