Mrbill, I also have a copy of the TV censored version, the ads have been edited out and the extra footage is awesome, unfortunately I dont think we will get any better than the grainy look unless its recorded in digital, if anyone around the world sees it coming back on they should record it and distribute thru the forum.
Would be great to edit both versions to one movie

Or maybe it would be great if someone could just record off the extra footage. I don't think I'd take the time to watch the whole movie again just to see a few extra shots.
Who am I kidding, I probably would.

But it would still be nice to have them separate, even if the quality wasn't great. That would also make it a small download. Our own version of the "deleted scenes" that should be on the DVD but probably never will be.

After all, they just released a bluray that finally has a (disappointing) commentary from George Miller, but no extras at all. That means it'll probably be a long time before we get anything better than that.

Realistically you would end up watching almost the entire film again to see the extra shots, it really is quite different in spots. The rig delivery for example is almost an entirely different edit of the film for much of it.

There were a few people selling this almost commercially at one point, on ebay etc, are they no longer doing that? I have a couple of copies here, and thought the quality was not too bad on those. I also have my own old VHS & Beta copies from Australian TV, I've not looked through them entirely in a while, but the quality of my own tapes looked lower than what others had already put to DVD which I last played them.

Unfortunately due to relaxed censorship, every time they've played Mad Max 2 on TV here in the past 15 years or more has been the uncensored version.

I am actually the one who submitted info about the "lost" version of the movie many years ago. I had recorded the TV version during my very first exposure to the Mad Max trilogy back in 1990. Back in 2002, I sent my VHS tape to a guy who made a run of DVD's from it. I no longer have the VHS, but I do have a copy of the DVD. It's the "Mad Max 2: Collector's Edition" by Tranzor Z, and it came with the "The Chase Continues" documentary. If you can't find him, I can see if one of my friends can make a copy of this DVD.
BTW, the quality of my version is pretty decent. The captures on the "lost version" page were not mine.

The extra scenes are worth watching, the truck delivery was a good example, there were many overhead shots never seen on the main film, but I suppose an old VHS & censored version could be tied together. The only issue is editing was pretty good for the censored, the background music wouldn't tie in well. I would however swap the scene where Papagallo rubbs the truck when he gets killed, a bunny hop looks better than a rub up.

I have been offered copies of this a couple of times, but unfortunately (as has happened to me soooo many times) no one has ever followed through. For one of the guys, I even sent through a bunch of stuff his way that he had asked for in return (again, not the first or last time I got burned doing that either, but one of the reasons I eventually stopped sending stuff out like this).

From the image you've posted (screen shots), it looks like someone somewhere still has a copy of this though? Any leads - where did the pics come from? If no one on the forum has a copy or has leads to it, it might be worth me putting up a "wanted" page on the main web site, along with a few other items I know are still kicking around out there, but I've never managed to acquire copies of. I'm sure if a sufficient reward was offered, a copy of the French doco should at least turn up at some point - it certainly seems as though it should be out there.
