Great news everybody:
I have been working with a place called Magnolia Leather Works on a screen accurate leather holster from Mad Max 2 / The Road Warrior. This holster has now been completed and is available for sale to fans. Just to be clear, I'm not involved in this project financially, so I don't get any profit from this. This was simply a custom item that I paid to have made to very strict specifications and I have now convinced the maker to make the item available for sale to the wider fan community.
I am very happy with the way this turned out. First, here is a link to where you can get the holster:

The holster is near the bottom of the page. And more photos of it will be posted their soon if they aren't already. There should be a "purchase now option" that works, but if not, you can use this link: http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?li ... d=29798608
And a link to his blog about how it was made:

Now let me tell you some more about this holster and then I'll attach a picture.
I spent a lot of time studying all of the shots of Max's holster in the movie in order to give accurate instructions for the manufacture of the holster. Here are a few things that are important and that this holster gets right:
1. The holster is not straight down from the belt. It is canted slightly. This is hard to see in some screenshots, but very clear in others. Many fans get this part wrong.
2. The holster is brown leather that has been dyed black. This is important because some black leather that you buy (especially the cheap stuff) will reveal blue or grey underneath when sanded or otherwise worn down. (That would be bad).
3. There are two leg straps. The top strap is angled, and the bottoms strap is actually brown, not black.
4. The bottom of the holster is open and the gun protrudes from the bottom.
5. There are the correct number of rivets all around, and the spacing of the rivets is correct, including how the bottom two rivets on the left hand side are a bit closer together.
6. The leather thigh straps are attached to the rivets
7. The leather is good quality but still thin enough to have some flexibility.
8. The holster is made to hang off of a standard Sam Browne belt which is about 2 1/4" wide. If you have a different sized belt be sure to specify in your order.
9. The holster comes pre-weathered.
I don't believe anything like this has been offered before. What are you waiting for? Go buy it! And please post here if you buy one, I'd like to know if there is a market out there for more of this kind of stuff. I'm continuing to work with venders to try and provide hard to find items from the movies to the fan community. (There just might be a Mad Max 1 shotgun holster available in the near future as well!)

Here is a photo (more will be posted on the Magnolia Leather Works site soon). In this photo you'll see my plastic shotgun. This was used for measurements since it has the exact same dimensions as the Hudson gun, but this way I didn't have to send my valuable Hudson gun through the mail.
