Need to buy football pads!

Post by Karol »

Hello Guys,
With only 6 months to go before RWWE, I am starting to think about buying parts for the Bartertown Guard costumes I have promised to make for the RWWE security team. The scary part is that accurate old 80's pads just aren't showing up on eBay much anymore. I also need to replace my Wez pads (which I sold a few months ago) for my next trip to Dragon*Con.

So I figured it might be a good idea to see if any of you out there might have extra pads sitting around. I am in need of up to 6 pairs of CP-66's and one pair of FB series "Wez" pads. Also, if you have any left over parts (for example, from your Max shoulder pad project) let me know because I may be interested.
Also, if any of you who live in areas that have well-stocked Play It Again Sports or other used sports stores and would be willing to go out and search and purchase for me, please let me know.
And of course I would be happy to pay the going rate for any pads that you can sell.
Please study my website: http://madmaxcostumes.com/pads.htm so you know what I'm looking for.
Thanks!

I'll do my best to call around and find some tomorrow, but I fear it's going to be a tough road. It's been my experience that Play It Again only stocks equipment for each sport's season. Now it's hockey and baseball season, and football doesn't start for months. But I'll still check!

I've had an email alert on eBay for pads for several months now, and I'm seeing very little vintage stuff (most of the vintage stuff is really vintage). I missed one really good set and I'm still kicking myself. Our local Play It Again Sports didn't have anything, and I even hit up the antique and thrift shops, but no dice. I did score a great deal on a batch of shin guards, though.

Well I checked every used sports store around, and no one has shoulder pads of any type. Most don't even carry them until the fall. Sorry I couldn't find any.

There are two Play It Again outlets in my area. I will start prowling around.
