From Karol's Mad Max costumes site:
Belt: Max wears two belts. One of them has ammunition shoulder straps attached to it, and is a British style belt. This belt's brass buckle reads, "Astore Police". My only guess on this is that it could be a British police buckle from Astore, Pakistan (formerly British-ruled India).

I think the ammunition shoulder straps are just generic straps.

Re: max's belt and braces in mm3
you mean the ammunition braces are bullet belts off a gunbelt that have been converted into braces? because the loops face the wrong way. around the "im the guy who keeps mr dead in his pocket" scene you can see the bullet loops go vertical rather than sideways, which youd get with a gunbelt. also, i cant find any braces with ammo loops anywhere on ebay. and the belt with the "astore" buckle looks like the buckle doesnt belong there, as these patterns of buckles are usually found on "stable" belts, which are parade uniform belts made of striped cloth. also it looks like max (or norma moriceau) has improvised the buckle onto the belt using pieces of leather and split rivets? any ideas on the second belt? cant see a buckle on it

Hey Road Pig,
Ya, still no new info on the MMBT belt. The Pakistani connection is the only lead.
I think I've said this to you before, but all of those Enfield 303 charger clips webbing belts that are used in Arab traditional costumes would not be a bad substitute - but definitely not an exact match.
Here's a pic for everyone:

thanks for the info karol, cant find any arab or bedouin belts on ebay tho. oh and i was wrong, stable belts have two straps, but that kind of buckle is still mostly used for parade uniforms

ya, forgot to mention that unless you know someone in Jordan or Saudi Arabia, you are out of luck. I have 3 of them, but I'd hate to let them go until I find a reliable source for more.
Re: max's belt and braces in mm3
this is as close as i could find to max's bullet belt, its a turkish .303 belt, tooled with brass eyelets. it was too short though, so i had to extend it with a leather motorcycle sleeve, some rubber inner tube and some split rivets. note i left a gap to hold my bosun's whistle
now to convert some braces... hope this attatched file works btw, photobucket isnt working for me

im going to use these braces for the above belt, theyre the same x-shape as max's, and hopefully wont be too difficult to modify with some bullet loops. might make use of the belt that comes with it to make max's second belt, the lower one
