OK, unfortunately I'm not that much up on Australian cars of the 70s, and I figure someone here would probably know right away, because you guys are awesome like that :]
Can someone help me ID some of the following?
1- Hubcap center, right side of hat
2- Hubcap center, left side of hat
3- The emblem on the front of the hat
4- From what I can tell, the fur on the top of the hat looks possibly like a red fox, with the tail removed (since from the back you only see the 2 legs). Opinions?

Aside from the Galant 1600, Charger, anyone know the other emblems tied to his (sweater?). Else I'll probably grab some chevy, Falcon, Alfetta, etc emblems of whatever is fairly cheap via Ebay.

I am no ace with car emblems but the left side hat emblem looks like a Ford
Mustang gas cap. A wild guess at the front emblem is a Chevy Bel Air quarter panel emblem from the 50s. I will have to scrutinize the Toadie outfit next time I watch the flick. He is covered in interesting goodies.

This is exciting. Suddenly people are getting interested in making costumes for less popular characters! Gyro Captain, Golden Youth, and now the Toadie! This is keeping me on my toes!
OK. The hat: the front is a Chevy V-flag badge. They were on a lot of different cars, including the Corvette. The left-hand-side is not Mustang - it's from a Japanese-made subcompact called the Dodge Colt. Right-hand-side looks familiar but I don't know. It's round like the Colt emblem, but looks like it has a bird of some sort with its wings up in a V.
On his sweater, he has "Charger" emblems on his forearms, 2 "Galant 1600" emblems on his left chest, a "Fairlane" on his right chest, "Kings..." on his middle/left chest, an "rg" probably from a Charger just below that, "Mon" (Monaro?) on his left ribs. There are a few more, but they are harder to get good caps of.
Interesting note: he has a teddy bear hanging from each side, and he is sporting fake assless chaps. He IS wearing light tan colored trousers under the black fabric loincloth and underneath his light brown trousers. He's wearing black boots/shoes, and kangaroo (or rabbit/hare) skins on his lower legs.

On the pants, ya I got some good caps that show that.. they don't even really look like chaps in that they 'seem' more like cloth pants cut to look like chaps, and as you said, a lighter-tan/khaki pant underneath (which will probably make it pretty hot for summer in ATL for DCon.. but one must suffer for thier art.... )
Rabbit will probably be easier for me to get.. but I'll keep an eye out for Roo hides :]

Oh wow. This is for D*C? Awesome. You will help complete the line-up. Humvee Driver will be coming in his Humungus vehicle and do the speech for the parade. I will do my best to show up as Wez again. All we need now is Golden Youth and Feral Kid!

Just found out that the Galant was the Colt. I guess Mitsubishi was known as Colt in the 70's, but they also sold their cars under the Chrysler brand, ie Chrysler Galant, Dodge Colt.

The emblem badge on the front is from a ht/hg holden, on the hg monaro this badge is on the bootlid.

...sorta slow motion. he leaves the seat, goes through the windscreen, headfirst straight into the tree...right. and then, bounces back through the windscreen. by the time we got to him.. he was just sittin there trying to scream with his face ripped off......whats the matter?

Some promised photos of what i've got so far.. as I said before, finding some of the parts in the SE USA is proving a bit tough.. but I can upgrade as I come across them. So alot of the emblems will be inaccurate.
Hat and Glasses.. side emblems way wrong, and the fur should be darker.. but you gotta start somewhere.
- Emblems I am using are an gas cap an older Mustang, and a horn button of an Impala. Front emblem is a replica ht/hg holden one, and should be movie-accurate. Leather is roo, fur is just a red-fox.
- Glasses are half an 'aviator style' pair of glasses and a round piece of plexi-glass surrounded with a painted copper wire. Held together with JB Weld.
- just imagine it with the black groin 'strap', and dirty undershirt..
- Boot-fur are rabbit skins I made an attempt to dye to darken.. didn't turn out as well as I hoped. They will be strapped with leather cord I have. They seem bright since they are near the camera flash.
- Pants are just 2 pair of old pants I had laying around, same with the sweater.. which didn't bleach/dye as well as I'd like. Tie is just some tie I found at a local store, and the shaw I found on ebay. it has the same side-grain of the fur of Toadies.
- still to do is of course rip it up and adorn it with the various auto emblems I've got here.
For some reason I'm having a really hard time finding all-cloth dolls of the style Toadie had.. this makes me sad :[
