Heat wave in Oz

We've heard stories on the news here in england about a heat wave in Australia as well as flash floods washing crocs into residential areas.
While here in the UK we've had the worst snow for 13 years according to news reports. I thought I'd share my experience of global warming as seen from my living room window, below.

I dunno about the flash flooding being caused by global warming....
The northern parts of Australia was always under the influence of a monsoon trough which would move "up and down" between Papua New Guinea and the top half of Australia.
Regular heavy rains and flooding was a common thing in this area up until about 1989/90 when a sevre drought started. Even in area of PNG which has some of the highest annual rainfall in the world suffered from a distinct lack of rain.
What we are seeing here is a reversal of the weather patterns and we are back to the "good" old days of flooding and monsoon rains.
The crocadile in the streets story stems from a town called Normanton (some 2000 people) which is in the remote part of Australia called the Gulf of Carpenteria. Crocadiles in the area are quite common, however the one which caused the story to appear was just a 1.5meter salt water croc which was still a baby at that size!
The heat wave being experienced down south in Victoria (2500km away from the flooding) is however an unusual occurance and normally only occurs for a few days, not weeks as has been the case so far.
So far here in town we have had a record 1080mm of rain in just over 3 weeks. This is normally our "annual" average! A few nights ago just 180km away a whopping 500mm fell in just one night up in the mountain ranges.
Some towns have now been cut off for 3 weeks and food and fuel are running short.
Everything is either being flown in or shipped via barges to other coastal towns.

Like most people in the western world, I don't have a carbon footprint because I drive everywhere!
