Road Warrior Weekend 2009!
I got an e-mail about this upcoming event. From the look of things, it seems like it should be pretty big. I guess they're trying to get Vernon Wells out there... this sounds very freaking cool!
For me, it's a 2,000 mile, 24 hour trip. AND don't forget I'll be trailering the Humungus Machine. But, that's what I am building the thing for. I'm going to try to make it!
Here's the link:

Or you can just read about it here:
November 20 - 22, 2009
OK, guys...here it is! Please remember some entertainment, etc. can be subject to change, I will keep this page updated at all times until the event date.
SAVE THE DATES! Post a comment if you are planning on attending and forward this info/page link to others! THANK YOU!
We will have some of the cars (authentic and replica) from the movies there as well as my FAVORITE character "WEZ" (Vernon Wells), too!
November 20 - 22, 2009
3 days in the beautiful desert full of leather, mohawks, football pads, chains, motorcycles, sandrails, ATVs, muscle cars, dust, water cannons, bon fires, fire-eaters, live music, the smell of gasoline and Vegemite!
Kinda like a post-apocalyptic Burning Man…without the hippies!
LOCATION:
Stoddard Valley Off-Highway Vehicle Area, off the 15 Freeway, 15 miles south of Barstow, CA
COST:
TBD – Stay Tuned, mates!
ACTIVITIES:
Overnight camping (must have a Road Warriorized/Mad Maxed encampment, pavillion, RV, trailer or "hovel"!)
Off-roading & 4X4ing – All off road vehicles MUST be "Road Warriorized/Mad Maxed" (helmets required on all ATVs)
Best Road Warrior-ized CAR SHOW vehicle contest w/prizes
"Off-Road Warrior" Race w/prizes
Best Road Warrior Costume Contest w/ Prizes
Fosters in kegs and a Vegemite eating contest! (THIS should prove hilarious!)
Showing of the entire "Mad Max" trilogy back to back on a HUGE outdoor movie screen Saturday night while we party the night away!
You get a cool commemorative t-shirt of the event and memories that will kick the ass of ALL OTHER MEMORIES!
You have to bring your own off road vehicles, gas, safety equipment, camping equipment, firewood, water guns, food, drinking water, alcohol (Fosters beer provided) and costumes.
*NO REAL GUNS, LIVE AMMO or SHOOTING ALLOWED – NO EXCEPTIONS!*
Do you make props, costumes or have off-road vehicles to rent and would like to offer your services to attendees of this event? Email me or post a comment on this blog and we will cross-promote each other!
If you belly dance, fire eat, play in a band or perform some other cool act and you don't mind wearing a costume that has a "post-apocalyptic" feel to it, email me ASAP! This is the 1st annual event, and most of the costs will come out of my pocket or breaking even, so I can't pay, but you will get free entry to the event and plenty of free press as well as a kick ass time!

Holy Crap! I was surprised when you told me about this, Humvee. This is totally out of left field. How did all of these Mad Max fans decide to plan the biggest Mad Max event ever without posting anything on the forum first!? It's like they are a different branch of Mad Max fans who evolved separately from us. Thanks for posting this.
I've messaged the profile to try to figure out who these people are, and what I can do to get involved.

I heard back from the profile - it's being organized by a friendly gal that goes by the moniker "Scarlet Harlott." She has organized events before, and she's got heaps of friends (over 5000 on MySpace). She was excited to hear from me, and it looks like we will definitely be collaborating on this event.
Friends, this could be the greatest Mad Max event ever. Think about it: camping out in the desert!

Re: Road Warrior Weekend 2009!
Hi everybody!!!
This is my first post on this board, I guess it's long overdue!
I'm glad everybody is excited about my event! I've been a fan of the trilogy since I was a wee one and as a "costume dork" I could never figure out WHY there wasn't a Road Warrior event in the US that could be enjoyed by the fans!
I hope everyone can make it out (you have about 10 months to plan your trip!) and have a fantastic time!
Cheers!
Scarlett

Re: Road Warrior Weekend 2009!
FINALLY! An event comes to my backyard. Was painful hearing about Easternats, Back2TheMAX, Broken Hill.
Heads ups(s):
(1) Stoddard Valley ( Stoddard Wells OHV Area) will require the placement of a CALIFORNIA OHV sticker for any NON-REGISTERED vehicle or OHV. These are available for no more than $30.00 from Calif Parks dept and are good for 1 calendar year. Must be placed on the exterior of the vehicle within sight.
California recognizes HELMET LAWS for OHV's without roll cages, and ALL OHV's require whip flags.
FINE FOR NON STICKER: $300.00 (from experience)
(2) BARSTOW SUCKS. Don't expect too much if you plan on staying in town. The only reason this town exists is because of the large rail yard. Your better off camping in the desert.
