American Presidential Candidates

Post by Redd4 »

Fellow Maxians
The race is underway, McCain/Palin vs. Obama/Biden. I was wondering what you all thought of our political circus--er, process--as it is going, and the people involved. This is for my national brethren (and sisthren?), as well as those from other countries, since what our fearless leaders do largely affects a lot of the rest of the world, like it or not.
I'm posting this on Thunderdome rather than Off-Topic so you can feel free to say whatever you feel.
For my part, I'm voting Democratic. I subscribe to Democratic principles more than I do Republican ones. I prefer a more liberal Supreme Court. leaving more choice, liberty, and protection to the citizens. If this had been the John McCain of 2000, I might find it a hard choice, and maybe Cactus John is just doing what he needs to do to get elected, and will return to being the maverick I used to like; I don't know if I can depend on that though.
As for McCain's running mate, she's friggin' hot!
Is that sexist of me?... :) .

I'm not liking my country's Political System.

Using my oft spoken Political Observation, we have a Monochrome Political System for dealing with a 32 bit color world.

Looking at the issues themselves.... I'm Both parties. And Neither. :P

That said.. I'm firmly convinced that if McCain gets into the office we'll have four more years of exactly the same crap as we've had the last eight.

I'm even MORE convinced that things MUST change if the country is to survive.

You can either vote for sanity or your wallet... I choose my wallet... Which makes me a Republican by nature.

Now it is not the time for a Democrat. They will raise taxes, enforce the CAFE rules (yes, I am quite sure McCain will nix those when he gets in office) and be generally bad for the economy. Adding the fact the world is a shithole right now, and I just don't trust Obama with it. But McCain could be another "warmonger" and take on Iran just cause...

We gotta take a chance somewhere... But I am lucky... I can't vote because I won't be a true American for at least 1,5 years. So whatever happens, I can't be held responsible... And that is a mighty fine thought.

After eight years of Bush and a GOP dominated Senate the USA is in sad shape.
Why should we trust them with another four years? Time to give the Dems a shot.
The GOP can come back in 2012 with their heads on straight and their shit together and try again.

You say bleak or black? LOL  thats a sad reality though that prob a good percentige of the votes Obama got was simply becuase he is biracial and part black. The "Bruthas & Systuhs" already are pigeon holing him like they did Tiger Woods and Obama is trying to let the American people know that hes for everyone not just the "Akufrin Americans".The whole voting thing and politics are nothing more than some MTV shit show now which is sad.and the frantic gun buying and everyone tearing thier teeth out thinking Obama is gonna turn the USA into the USSR will prob get his head ventalated here soon I fear.

I had a longer post typed up and then I lost it.

The Short Version.

McCain - Bush MkIII

Four more years of that shit and we'd be in another Full-On Depression and/Or Invaded with no troops to spare 'cos instead of Reducing the Number of men in Iraq Et Al, they'd be increasing hte number.

I don't know if Obama will take us in the RIGHT DIrection, but he'll certainly try to take us into a different one.

We need a new direction, Period. (That's "Full Stop" to you Non-Yanks) or we're Dead.

I believe we made a good choice. Maybe the black vote made a difference, but when you look at the electoral map, I don't think it made as big of a difference as that. Obama carried states that hadn't swayed Democratic for decades.
The American people want something new, and another old white man in charge is not it.
