MADMAX shit on ABC this morning.

watching JTV. on ABC this morning as i do most saturdays, and anyone whos farmiliar with the show, knows that little movie reviewer bitch is usually full of shit, but this morning my opinion completely changed.
He was reviewing that new Doco on AUSSIE exploitation movies like TURKEY SHOOT, MAD MAX and MAN FROM HONGKONG, called NOT QUITE HOLLYWOOD, and he baught up MAD MAX's roll in Australian cinema, and how it changed the worlds opinion of us, he also pointed out a shitload of stuff that has been influneced by MAD MAX.
He pointed out filmclips, like that crap by TUPAC, and stuff, he also showed a quick clip of a PHIL COLLINS song man "don't you lose my number" or whatever, i had no idea that had a scene in the clip of a guy in WEZ warpaint, smashing through a cars window, like WEZ did with MAX in the Tanker. showed bits from American movies that have ripped off the chase scenes, video games, all kinds a shit.
what shat me the most was bloody TARANTINO interviewed on there, he was praising MAD MAX and admitting that he'd knocked off bits for DEATH PROOF, he said - "noone films a carchase like an AUSTRALIAN" - yeah? so how come whenever anyone brings up a 'car' movie in DEATH PROOF, its fucking VANISHING POINT, GONE IN 60 SECONDS or DIRTY MARY CRAZY LARRY? why isn't there a single mention of MAD MAX in DEATH PROOF?, man.

...i read that the wrong way,sorry haha...if you really want to see a film that knocks off bits from mad max and other movies,watch doomsday starring rhona mitra...watch it with a few mates and play "spot the knock off!!"

Because in DeathProof they used a 440 milled '70 Dodge Challenger just like in Vanishing point, mentioned that movie, as well as the shitty Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry and the equally as lame original Gone IN 60 Seconds.

Yeah, Mad Max and the Road Warrior redefined the car chase to a point of cinema art, but i see little inspiration about the Max movies in it. But i didnt like DeathProof anyhows.. so perhaps im biased.

George Miller was given a special thanks credit at the end of the film.

Also Doomsday is not a ripoff of Mad Max. Neil Marshal as acknowledged talking things from those movies and put them into his movie. He doesn't deney it. Quentin Tarantino does this all the time and no one gives a crap,but when Neil Marshal does it everyone craps themselves. We finally got a movie praising Mad Max among other movies and everyone just complains. If George Miller screws up Mad Max 4 with CGI, just remember Neil Marshal had the balls to do it without CGI.

forgot to also mention that they baught up KEVIN COSTNER, and surprisingly didn't mention WATERWORLD or THE POSTMAN once, but they did say that he was a massieve ROAD WARRIOR fan, and hired DEAN SEMLER for his cinematographer on DANCES WITH WOLVES, based on his MAD MAX 2 work alone, COSTNER loves MAD MAX, man.

The car from Vanishing point was a 1970 Challenger. I think Maybe Tarentino did the Charger up in flat black primer to give it a "post Apocalyptic" Mad Max look. and I'm sorry Bad Cop,Neil Marchall ripped the tits off of the Mad max trilogy as well Escape from New York and even 28 days later. Doomsday was pure unmitigated SHIT!

have to agree with big bopper bart,almost every scene in doomsday was ripped off from other films...even the fight scene in the castle had a tinge of thunderdome about it!!

I though the fight was supposed to be a tribute to the one with Snake and the wrestler in Escape From New York. 28 Days Later sucked so I really don't care about that. You have to admit the 'Gimp trike' and Sol's skin covered Jag were cool. And like I said QT does this all the time in his movies,using other music: White Lightning,A Cat 'O' Nine Tales,Blow Out,Truck Turner. Characters: Pai Mei, Hatori Hanzo. Camera shots: Dirty Mary Crazy Larry,Blow Out. Neil Marshal does it and everyone craps themselves. What if George Miller CGI's MM4 to death? What are you gonna say about Doomsday then? Neil wanted to do everything as practical as possible. Everyone was looking forward to a new MM or a new movie that was similar and we got that and then all everyone does is bitch about it.
