Hi Guys,
I sent this letter to the makers of the new Mad max jacket.

Hello,
I belong to the Mad Max fan club and there's a lot of talk about your jacket but since no one has seen your jacket, people are reluctant to buy it. I think in order for you to sell this jacket it would be wise for you to post some actual pictures of the jacket. People generally don't buy what they cant see.

Hmmm. Well, doesn't look too bad. Adjustment tabs look too high, and sure, maybe the leather isn't the greatest.
Is it worth $300? When you can buy the AbbeyShot for a little more? I think this jacket was on eBay for what... $220 a few weeks ago?
The photos, by the way, are just horrid. Looks like the owner snapped a few photos of his products around the house with his wife. hahaha.

Not the best picture to promote their product that's for sure. I would like to see more views of the shoulder caps, the "V" seam on the back, as well as the left front side (does their's have a pocket or not?). SouthBeach leather is well established and I imagine their jacket is well made, but from the information they provide it is hard to judge.

I have had my Abbyshot jacket for almost 2 years now. It is not just for costume. I've worn it daily (as needed by weather) and it is well broken in and conforms to ME. I have no complaints about the quality and feel the price was well worth it. Without a doubt it is the best leather jacket I own and have given away other leathers that I no longer wear (I own 8 leathers, 3 are motor leather).

I am glad to see that the market for this style of jacket is large enough to support more multiple manufactures. It shows that even the 'casual' fan base is probably larger than we realize.

Might be interesting as they may have just reverse engineered one of Abbyshots jackets.

I received some pics from a guy who bought his Southbeach jacket for a total of $213 through eBay.

Looks like the shoulder caps are made out of leather. And again, the side adjustment tabs are a couple inches too high. He also said he had to get the sleeve length corrected before it shipped out to him - the language barrier can sometimes lead to problems. But he's happy with it.

The leather shoulder caps are a definite no-no. It looks like it also doesn't have the correct "V" shape in the back.

I'd have to agree. It looks ok, and it is pretty close. Thanx for the info Karol. I think I will keep recommending the Abbyshot jacket to people though. Nice to have something to compare it to.

I bought it when it first came out and it's fine. Bottom line is...there's NOTHING out there even close. Plus, looks like it's the last chance to buy it as they're going to stop producing it. Here is this their newsletter from today, July 16, 2008.
