A purely speculative thread.

What sorts of vehicles do you folks think we'll be seeing in Part four?

Obviously we'll have something fast, noisy & exciting for whatever chase scenes, but what other cars will there be?

Animal powered wagons?
This would make sense if the climate shifts back towards "Normal" and the vegitation makes a comeback. Engines that Fuel themselves and have No Emmission Controls.

How about sail powered Land Yachts?
If fuel is pretty scarce this would make a lot of sense and is what I'd do for transportation provided I didn't have to be on the run from powered vehicles.
(And of course if the terrain was flat enough and it was windy enough)

If plant life was abundant enough, Ethanol for fuel could be a possibility.. Far better fuel than Methane, anyway.

If water wasn't a problem, Hydrogen could be a possibility.. Wind generators cracking H2 from 02..


Just throwing out some ideas..

Well, i'll say that in the real world, Solar/Electric vehicles certainly do have a place..

But in the context of these movies.. and particularly if My theory on the timeline is close to accurate.. Definitely Not.

Of course, the Hydrogen idea might be a bit of a stretch, too.
(But I'm sure most of us did the hydrogen/oxygen experiment in Seventh Grade Science class, right? Egad, That was in 1980!!)

Just giving some thought to what people would do for makeshift transportation if deprived of oil based fuels.

Steam power! You can burn anything and the water wouldn't have to be clean. May not be fast but a steam donk sure is powerful.

Ive got a bad feeling that this will be a complete sellout of a movie. The direct result of that will be modern day cars like Hondas and new mustangs. Also all the stunts could or will be cgi ie starwars. If anything like that even close to happens, im out.

Hey Isttype, I'd probably watch it, even if it is a sell out, but I think what you're saying is completely right. Hollywood just can't help themselves. Gone are the days of making a film for making its sake. It's now all about how to get as many bums on seats in the theatres via the ticket booth. So naturally they'll want to cater to every race, colour, creed, ethnic minoritiy and sexual orientation as they can. Hype it to the hilt that it's "Mad Max!" and we'll end up seeing a watered down of one of those bad Italian Post apocolyptic Mad Max clone films from the mid 80's but this one will have 20 times the budget and 120mins of CGI.

But as I said I'd still go an watch in the hope that I will be proved wrong... somehow I doubt I will be though.

This is on the assumption it will actually be made.

George, if you're reading this remember you're roots eh Mate? Keep it simple and don't be tempted to water it down like you turned Thunderdome into with that bad inclusion of Goonies cameo role. Thanks for reading Mr Miller.

Its funny that you made a referance to the goonies as I have always refered to MM3 as madmax meets the Goonies! That movie seemed like kinda of a sellout movie. That was in 1986. Imagine how bad a sell out modern day MM movie could potentially be. With the popularity of imports; ie hondas supras ets, dont be surprised if you see them in a postapocoliptic wasteland even though the newest vehicle in the MM series is like 1979. Look at the recent star wars movies. I hope Miller has enough respect and dignity to be period correct and keep the cars all AUSSIE!!! Thats so important for us diehards.

The Mad Max meets Goonies was a phrase I picked up here, good analogy for it I thought. Succinct even.

Well as regards the film we can only hope that Mr Miller and his crew pay attention to the mistake his comtempories have made, and continue to make in their own film productions and avoids them like the plague. He broke new ground in 1979 with the first film, raised the bar with Mad Max2 (I remember leaving the cinema in dazed shock at seeing it the very first time) stumbled a bit on the third so maybe he's gotten better with age. Once I watch Happy feet I'll let ya know. Babe wasn't bad, the piglet had even had a mohawk like tuft, a homage to Wez perhaps?

I hate to say it, but i agree with lstype, I fear this movie will be nothing more than a "modernized" Max-esque film, overloaded with cgi effects and little plot. Im sure ill be seeing early 90s or newer cars and a too young for the role Max.

Oh course ill still be there watching it, hopefully at the drive in. Though ive little hope for anything as raw and pure as was the road warrior or mad max,.. hell if its even as good as thunderdome it would be surprising to me.
