Roop/Charlie MFP 'Steering Wheel' pins

Post by HUMVEE Driver »

Everyone remember the rectangular pin the Roop and Charlie wore, light grey with a black steering wheel on it and it said 'MFP' in red and 'A11' in black? I'm looking into getting some enamel pins made with that design, would anyone be interested in buying one at cost? Let me know.

I'm in! I'm not using the target on my jacket nor would I use this one, but it would be nice to have. I have a Route 66 pin I use on my sleeve.

Well, I finally heard back from the company that I talked to, and they want about $400.00 for 25 pins. Comes out to about $16 per pin; seems overly expensive to me. So if I were to even consider laying that much down, I'd have to have 25 buyers interested in paying that much. I don't expect that to happen. In the meantime, I'm going to check out some other places.

Always thought of that as the "clover" badge.

Any news on a supplier?

Naw, I kinda put this project on the shelf for now. I do have a list of pin makers that I have to go through and contact and see what they can offer. If I get the pins done, you'll be the first to know. Thanks for your interest!

Count me in for 1 also, if the project goes through.

I have seen these for sale on ebay and through various places, so somebody is making them, but they always seem to be pretty spendy, and of unknown quality, so I have not picked one up yet.

I too would be interested in the pin. Here is something I would like to point out, Charlie is also wearing the target pin just below the clover/steering wheel pin. I have MM on DVD and caught this the other day while watching.

Also Abbyshot clothiers has the MFP Badge sets back in.

It looks like it was made very simply. It does not seem to have any depth. To make it look as it does in the picture I would print the artwork, laminate it, give it a thicker backing with a pin back. Movie prop guys usually are not given the time to make anything too complicated.

To make a better reproduction of this I would draw up an illustrator file, Send it to a guy where I used to work and have him laser cut/engrave it. The lettering and wheel design would be recessed so you could paint the areas their specific color.

What are the dimensions to make it 1/1? Let me know and I will see what I can do.
