Very cool indeed. I grew up with several 1969 Chevelles so I got to know the GM 'A' bodies very well. My final Chevelle was definately Max inspired, se vid:

If you need help sourcing parts just let me know. Also, could you post a closer up pic of the wheels/rims you now have on the car?

Gotta love those exhaust pipes you welded up, awesome.

More people should realize that you need not have a vehichle that was in the movie, that you can still have a hell of a lot of fun building mad max inspired cars. I used a big ole lincoln and had a great time building her and driving the snot out of it come summer.

Good luck on the project.

Go with some 15X10 rims in the rear and 15X7's in the front, get the black Nascar style rims, you can get em cheap from http://www.bart-wheel.com. And since your front end kinda favors the Nite Rioders Holden Monaro,I'd go with a simaler hood scoop.
good luck with your project.

Hi Cams

Looks familiar ... I have a similar project on the go.

Unfortunately I can't do much at the moment as a back injury from a motoorbike crash in the 80's has come back to haunt me and my left arm is pretty much useless due to a pinched nerve ... sucked all the fun out of working on the cars!

I dummied up the paint for a student film where the hero is seen getting into his car but you don't see the whole car ... so it's painted on one side only with a rattle can

I liked it so much that I'm going to finish it off over the summer holidays if my arm improves.

I'm using MM wheels 15 x 8 at the back with TAs and 14 x 7 up front.

It's an xc ute with a ZH Fairlane front to get the Elcamino/Ranchero look.

sweet tapdancing christ my old account worked

over 10years since first post. many moons ago. this death machine is still...well dead

nothing life changing has happened with it. did the rust work, installed engine and trans. made a driveshaft and drove this beast for 2 days. the second day it broke the u-joints from the shaft while driving 120km/h and wonderin what the hell is that noise....well needless to say I found the noise

cant post pics here but can prefer a instagram links. hope someone can see them.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BXOF_TJBtvH/

door paint job was copied from fury road nux-car art(doesnt show up in the movie)

made a hood scoop from -94 opel vectras front fenders and hood. (cut the front end of the fenders and part of the hood and welded it together)

wheels & tires are from my other el camino, 15x8 nascar look cant remember what and tires 205 front and 275 back.

made a bracket to the back of the cabbin to mount the fuel tank (old barrel type) and fuel lines under the car with electric fuel pump.

....

other not so cool driver I had was this cheap vw mk2 golf  it was boring black so we grinded it to the bare metal and I just painted it with boat clearcoat(much cheaper than car clearcoat) with paint roller. sold it to this junkie-guy for profit. and bought it back when he needed extra 50-bucks

if anyone interested for more photos I could upload those somewhere and MAYBY POST THEM HERE BEFORE ANOTHER TEN YEARS IS PASSED
