Mad Police Models

Post by PacificMuscle »

I have been trying to track down these kits for years with limited success ... they are as rare as the proverbial rockinghorse poop.

I have two of the four kits the Destroyer and Venus

I have found a guy in Japan who has a complete set which I obviously don't need all of ... so here's the rub ... is anyone interested in buying the Destroyer and Venus kits if I buy the set? The scarey bit is that they are US $300 for the set ... that's $US75 per kit. I'm happy to post anywhere.

I've seen a Firebird model that looks alot like the Mad Police Interceptor, except without all the post-apocalyptic stuff on it...

here's a pic of what I think is the same model:

next time I see one, I'll make sure to grab it.

In the scheme of things these kits are no more expensive than we here in Oz would have to pay for say an Aoshima BoB.

That said I can't justify buying two kits that I already have at this price so have let my Japan contact know and he is now on the look out for the individual kits that I'm after.

I like the Firebird ... the Mad Police interceptor is based on a comaro/firebird. The others are early eighties Japanese domestic market coupes with flares and machine guns.

I think the Farcon is based on an early 80's Ford Mustang:

& the Venus is an 84 Toyota Supra:

It's hard to tell what the Destroyer is, but I think it might be a late 70's Ford or Mercury.

Here's the Firebird model I was talking about.

compared to the Mad Police model:

there is definatly a resemblance....

The kit looks pretty easy to build & leaves alot of room for modification, with a little scratch building & some pieces from your parts box, you could have a good "look-a-like" MP Interceptor.

The revell 78 TA could be a good parts donor, along with the Joker goon car & maybe a jet (for the missles & stuff).

Hey! :o This will make sense in a week or two, but I just made a replica of the Trans-Am, using that kit.
I Also have an original Destroyer. These kits were made by Fujimi, and they just made extra parts trees to modify an existing model. All have the same light bars, blower & headers, destroyer & farcon have same armor/ Interceptor & venus have same armor. the Destroyer & interceptor have the same wheels, the venus wheels look like left swastikas, never seen the farcons. the trees probably have extra parts for the other models on them, too. I've found the base models used for the venus (Toyota Supra) and interceptor (Pontiac Trans-Am) a few times on Ebay, but not the destroyer or farcon. I can't tell what the hell the farcon is for that matter, it looks Japanese, but I've been unable to identify it.

I've been looking for these on ebay as well, the destroyuer used to turn up a few tiems a year, and comes with a white or dark green body, only remember seeing venus and interceptor once or twice. Haven't seen any in a long time, just don't bid against me..

Hey, Humvee. If your Destroyer box is open, would you be willing to scan, or make duplicates of the decal sheet? Don't know how the white will show up? Anyways just a thought, I'm dirt poor at the moment anyway. probably going to have an imagination Christmas this year.
