Just got back!

Post by PursuitSpecial »

Man, what an event! Was great to meet everyone in person. I'd list names but I know I'd leave a few out.

Wondering if I drove the most total miles, 942.6! Drove a little over 300 miles to get there, a little over 300 miles around the Seattle area, and then a little over 300 miles to get back home. Too much driving!

A couple unexpected things, Karol and I saw a washington state ###-MAX license plate on Friday night, that was cool. Also while driving home on Interstate-90, there was a big rig with a trailer that had pulled off the freeway and through the fence, about 20 feet into the pasture off the road. One whole side and the top of the trailer and cab had burnt to a crisp. Looked like a bunch of potatoes inside the trailer. Looked right out of the road warrior, I would have taken a pic but my stupid camera broke.

I did think about spray painting "THE VERMIN HAVE INHERITED THE EARTH" on the side, but alas, I had no spraypaint...lol

Here is a link to a better article on that wreck.

Vern was great. Loved having him there. What a cool dude. And did I mention we got to watch the first ever Mad Max at a drive-in theater in the U.S. with the ORIGINAL VOICES?? And I can't even tell you how cool it was sitting in my car looking at the BoB on the big screen and then looking to my left and seeing it also parked next to me.

Anyhow, here's pic of our beloved die-hard Karol in full WEZ costume in the Seattle weather tanker cruise.

Looks like it was a truly awesome time. Any press coverage of the event? Good to know the local bronze didn't have a problem with it!

WOW!
That was the most spectacular time I have had in a long LONG time! A huge thank you for everyone who came, and everyone who wished they could!

The RED XA man, THE RED XA! That was the ducks guts. I am probably tooting my own horn, but it was far more beautiful than I could have ever imagined. Mostly, Thanks 1000 times to everyone who pulled the final assembly through in the 11th hour as I had to run off and pick up Vernon and finish all the last second details.

It was totally awesome to be part of Mad Max cinema history at the First ever Drive-In presentation of Mad Max with the original Dialog, not to mention MAD MAX 2 (not the roadwarrior) which has probably not EVER been screened in the USA on the big screen, much less in a drive in with MM1. For the first time in hisotry also, folks could view the film on the big screen from their replica vehciles in the USA!
What a moment, to be siting next to WEZ as the opening chace sequence played out before my bloodhsot Berserker eyes........... and as what that simple diffrence of the opening credits ment dawned on me....... were watching BOTH original versions, this had NEVER happened before in this country, and there I was with Vernon Wells in my car, seeing the making of (a small part of) Mad Max history! Almost 30 years after the film was made.

I think the moment was defined best for me, as I stood next to Vernon in the projection booth, while he gave his introduction speech to MM2 over the theatres sound system (every car radio in the place). The quote that stuck with me the most (I will recount as best memory serves) was: "This is a Film that has truly stood the test of time, and it is even more relevent today than when it was made".

What else can I say?

Vernon wells with the Humounges mask. That's a realy scary combination.
Is it the original mask? It has the same black belts like the one in the film. Others I saw on the internet all had white belts.
"UNDERSTEER" is when you hit the fence with the front of the car.
"OVERSTEER" is when you hit the fence with the rear of the car.
"HORSEPOWER" is how fast you hit the fence.
"TORQUE" is how far you take the fence with you.

Very awesome picture there! I do hope there is also some footage of the event, and pictures of the maxed out vehicles. That would really make my day!

I'll see if I can't post the gallery in the next couple of hours...
And no - the mask was all thanks to MFP1 and his handiwork.
