Skull in Humunguse's Gun Case

Post by MFP1 »

Been wondering about the Skull, on the inside of the lid in Humunguse's Gun Case. Firstly is is a WW2 or other vintage military emblem or somthing else. More importantly is it the same skull emblem found on the rear quarter roof pillar of ther Red XA Wipeout car and Landau? I know the topic of TLH's gun has been duicussed, and even the case maybe, hopefully this is a new aspect of it. Possibly the same skull is used in multiple places as a "Gang" sign for the Vermin/Dogs Of War?

It is older but mostly known as a German WWII symbol, the SS Death's Head (Totenkopf). It was also used by the Swedes. They are used throughout the Humungus gang on various vehicles, including the Red XA, Iron Cross dune buggy and Landau. That being said, I don't know what this specific badge was used for, there were sewn and painted ones on various clothing pieces of members of this unit, but what these specific metal ones were used on and their current availability for replicas is unkown.

In the case there is also that photograph. Does anyone know what it is or if it has some deeper meaning?

totenkopf's go waaay back in various hussar and cavalry outfits - german mainly.

there was also a british unit which had a totenkopf. but its name escapes me.

during the napoleonic wars, many prussian and hanoverian troops fled europe for england - in such numbers that the british formed the 'kings own german volunteers'. german officers, german troops. under british command.

they existed until napoleon was defeated, and even fought at waterloo - in the farmhouse - where they famously heldout until their last musketball had been fired.

the rest of the germans, under german command, arrived late in the day.

after the cessation of hostilities, they (kings germans) transferred to german command.

WOW, thank you for all the info. Now I just need to identify the particular one on the red XA and see if I can find a replica out there somewhere. Have found a few suitable "Belt Buckles" in variuous milataria clothing places etc.

Is it the same design that was on the Landau's pillar with the large "photocopy" print on the door? If it is, I have a few pics of the Landau at the Easternats I can send along if you want to carve/cast your own, or need it for reference.

I believe there was even one on the front of Wez's bike. Maybe they were widely available at auto parts shops in the 80's?

We used to sell WW2 militaria at the gun shows and we sold the crap out of the deathshead pin to bikers. They didn't seem to care about the history or if the pins were originals or reproductions. I reckon it's a 1%er thing.
