All right I know this is not related to any part of this forum and I am definitely not try to push any political or American views on any one. Nor am I making a statement to whether or not I support the war in IRAQ.
I do however support those soldiers that are involved.
I was driving down the road on the way home after seeing the flags in Virginia flying at half mast on the news, when I could see Sea Worlds flag off in the distance flying at full staff. I thought about my father a retired Marine and how after his death we had a flag flown over the US Capitol in his honor. I also thought about how when a senator or astronaut, etc. dies we fly our flags at half mast. But here we have Americans and other comrades dieing in IRAQ every day and we just go about life never thinking about them until the evening news when they may announce that a local young person has died.
What I am proposing and asking for you help with is an e-mail and forum campaign to this nations private sector to put the flags out side every corporate office, business, school and home at half staff until the troops come home. To help us all remember every time we see our flag that we have citizens, friends, neighbors, countrymen in harms way. This makes no statement to the validity of the war, only to our support of the individuals in service and sacrifice, to those showing the highest form of work ethic, to those willing to die for their word and their responsibilities.
I for one respect them, and think they deserve the support and acknowledgement.

I think a flag at half mast is a far more powerful statement than some stupid yellow ribbon magnet could ever be. Nothing shows a lack of commitment to a cause like a magnetic sticker. We have symbolism in our culture already and I agree we should use it. It is not political. It is respectful. It honors the individual.

Here here, Thanks for the show of support Chase.
(not to mention that most of those magnets are probably making somebody some where some profit)
(how's AZ treating you? Thinking about asking for a transfer and coming home myself)
