HOW DID MAX KNOW HOW TO?

Post by rockatansky4073 »

where or when did MAX learn how to drive a bloody truck?

see i could understand Max knowing how to ride a bike, he had Goose as a mate, and i think there's a deleted scene of Max and goose racing, with Max on the bike, goose in the Yellow Interceptor, but a truck? comeon.

max never walked into the Compound and said, "hey man, any of you guys know how to drive a truck? - cause i know where you can get one, how 'bout ya come with me, and i'll show ya where it is, you drive it back" - he just said "you wanna get out of here, you talk to me" - he just knew he could get that truck back, no gear grinding, no stalling, he was a natural, and i hear its tough to learn how to drive a truck, especially a quad box, with so many gears

its rumoured that Mel himself, said "i have trouble reversing my mini, how am i gonna drive that" - so as good as MAX was on the road, it was pretty far fetched when you think about it. - ... but Max is THE ROAD WARRIOR.

Also have elbow on door window sill and look cool wearing mirrored shades. Make sure the air horn chord is within easy reach.

Yep, like Steve says how hard can it be?

Now riding a bike, that takes real skill! You don't just aim and let out the clutch on something like that LOL! It takes brainszzzzz.

Well, we don't know a whole lot about Max's background, Rock. Maybe he's a real gearhead, and knows a thing or two about trucks and such. Or maybe he just felt it out. Kind of like Steve Gizzi said, shifter and clutch, pretty basic. Just gotta figure 'em out. Max did seem to know what he was doing, though. .

I'd love to have Ankle's take on it.....

Now REDD lets not tear the shorts out of "you know who" R4073, run the gauntlet, Biker has been here for awhile and still points me in the right direction. You have to make us laugh. You must have a sense of humor.

Ain't that the truth? Image

Wouldn't have thought driving a truck like that would be any more difficult than doing a tune up on dirt road or even staying alive in the wilderness. (The latter is a feat I think perhaps one in 20 of the people I've met on the internet could do, the former.. one in 100) Image

I mean.. The thing's got one shift lever, right?

Shift patterns should be easy enough to figure out.

Clutch, Brake, Throttle, steering wheel.

So easy even a Caveman could do it.

1. Water...or even better, a Waitress with Water! Thats 1 and 1A

I think I remember reading somewhere (maybe one of the Mad Max books) that the MFP had been trained to drive all kinds of vehicles. That would make sense, because the Armalite gangs may have been running/smuggling truckloads full of illegal stuff, and after the MFP stops them in the middle of nowhere, how to get the truck back to headquarters? SImply train your guys to drive them. Also, I agree, Max was a natural.

There was a thread a while back about driving a quad-shifter, and it DID seem pretty complicated, though. I guess Max is just that good.

Max knew how, because it was written in the script...Image

OK. Since we're on the subject of "how the f**k did he do that?"

How the hell did the gyro captain manage to get his copter into the air without 200 yards of runway?

I mean, a Gyro copters main propeller (the big one above his head) isn't powered by the VW engine behind him, that prop provides forward thrust. The big prop relies on the wind spinning it, and once it gets up to speed (provided by the driven prop) will keep the whole contraption airborne. Sorta like a powered glider... ahem ... sorta. However in order to get the prop to spin fast enough to create the lift you need a damn long runup to get it into the air.

Not as easy thing to do in a compound the size of a tennis court with vehicles in the way.

Oh yeah and another thing "Five gallons of diesel and some high octane guzzaline." would fit into two jerry cans easily, wouldn't it? So why the need for four Jerry cans?

Bronze21 if you say "it was written into the script" I'm going to slap you upside the head and ask for the book back OK? LOL!

The questions above are tongue in cheek btw. I don't lose sleep over not knowing the answers to them. I'd just would like to hear your take on it is all.
