Bart, life goes on, trust me on that mate. I lost my Dad to cancer when I was 22, he was only 45. The pain doesn't go away it just gets duller with time (is there such a word as "duller"?) Bart you're gonna have to turn yourself around a bit. There are others who still enjoy your company.

I hear what you're saying about the scientists though, I guess they have their 3 minutes on the soapbox and want to make as big as impression as they can get. Doom and gloom usually works the best. tell everyone it's all right and rosey and they start burning Dolphins and Whales to ruin the ozone layer.

Its like the line from'Sunday mornin coming down' this songs my own personal godammed anthem

On the Sunday morning sidewalks

Wishing Lord that I was stoned

'Cause there is something in a Sunday

That makes a body feel alone

And there's nothin' short of dyin'

Half as lonesome as the sound

On the sleepin' city side walks

Sunday mornin' comin' down

Bart, Biker is right.... (I dunno about the word "duller" though!)

My old man passed away 14months ago.... Its always there in the back of my mind .. and will be a slow process, but it will be something which i probably wont get over.

I had up until that point watched 2 people die before my eyes..... (one was my uncle).... these events happened many years ago... and i still remember them as clearly as it was yesterday..... even though i want to forget i ever saw them happen.

We are 100% snafu....

This thread could rapidly turn into a doom and gloom one about death of loved ones so how about we turn it around into the "Sunshine and light" that Bart was referring to that ISN'T on the TV now.

Yeah we know the world's screwed. We know Man is the cause, but if we all do our little bit recycle, and be selective about what impact our lifestyle has on the environment as a whole we can sleep at night with a clearer conscience.

I'm well aware of the old adage "Success is like a fart, only your own smells good" which doesn't need the rest of it actually saying but I will anyway ... "but to others it's just stink." So here's the good news my end:

My art books have been finally been published! Took 3 years but they're done!

Both my kids are doing well at school and enjoying life in general up in Scotland, I haven't seen them since April of this year but we speak to each other every week on the phone. I hope to rig up a webcam this end very soon and maybe chat to them, with pictures, online.

I cut up all the firewood with my new chainsaw yesterday and can still count to 10 using my fingers AND to two using my legs.

The car's got a bit of an engine rattle but I now know someone who can fix it and won't charge me the earth to check it out (I can't be bothered doing that stuff nowadays.) Gone are the days I'd change an engine and gearbox. I can't beleive I actually wrote that, it echoes something my Dad once said to me and Iooked at him sideways for, why pay someone when you could do it yourself? Well now I'm his age I understand why LOL!

Alison, my girlfreind, has been cancer free now for 5 years and comes off the medication she had to endure for the past ... forever it seems. To celebrate her being in remission for so long we're going to buy an egagement ring... perhaps.

And lastly Christmas is just on the horizon, and I've got my lady a christmas present she's going to love: A bottle of mint flavoured Baileys.

So tell us the good news your end folks there must be something.

Biker

PS Bart I know the line about Christmas being close is going to be like a dagger in your heart but there remains the fact that you have other family still around you, especially your Mother. Celebrate his life and the good things he did while he was with you and have a party/dinner/drink in his honour. On the day of my Dad's funeral I sat with a bunch of my mates who all knew him and we reminised about things we remember about him. I tell you we were roaring with laughter inside 20 minutes it went on for about an hour too, at what we each remembered, I felt him there laughing with us and feeling happy that he'd made such an impression in all our lives. You gotta ask yourself whether your Dad would prefer to hear you laugh or see you miserable? Same goes for you Sam.
