Pixar's "CARS"...

Post by Bronze21 »

Greetings. We went to see Cars on Saturday, and really enjoyed it. The story is a little obvious, but the jokes and graphics are pretty cool. There's a lot of subtle stuff going on all the time for the adults (remember Bugs Bunny cartoons?) that the kiddies will miss. A couple of examples...Cadillac Range. Look at the mountains in the background, and they look like Cadillac Ranch in Amarillo Texas, with all of the different year tails sticking up in the air. Monument Valley looks like hood ornaments on top of hoods and fenders. And for the really atuned, watch the order of flashing spark plugs on top of Flo's V8 Cafe...it's the firing order of a Ford V8. There's also an orange Challenger that has a blower and zoomies...Max fans? They also do a little "oonza oonza" rip on The not-so Fast and all-but Furious films...they must be "old schoolers" at heart...that ends up being pretty funny when they're messing with MACK. Go see it.

Walking away from the theater, I got the bright idea to sketch up the following pic, which I did during yet another meeting at work. Maybe Pixar could do Max 4? Riiiight...lol. The CARacter's name is "MAX."

Thanks to Doug for posting it...when he gets a chance...

Here's Jays latest rendering (please note he did this while in a meeting at WORK !)

Sam..... no need to make my own blower noises as the XB does it well on it's own...... as for me, I'm too busy grinning over the 2 awards I got at last Sundays car show. brad....always a pleasure to hear from you and I hope Sammy kept his shirt on while he was there.

Da-yamm! That's a brillinat drawing Bronze!

I've seen a preview of Cars on a DVD and it looked good, now why didn't you do a drawing like that and then send it to Pixar before they made the film? I bet they'd have included that beast in it too!

Having seen a few of the PIxar films and enjoyed them I bet the people whtere would have incuded it in just for giggles, they seemed a pretty good bunch.

Great drawing that, and I mean a really great drawing! If only I could have drawn like that in some of the meetings I'd have had to go to over the years. How the f*** did you get away with that?!

Thanks for the compliments guys. If "Max" was in color, he'd have blue eyes...like Mel's. The guys in the studio are considering a contest where we take cars we drive and turn them into a CARacature that could have been in the movie, and then let the rest of the staff pick the winner. The winner gets a couple of the diecast cars, or something movie related. I'm also turning my Black PT into a cop car with the big rounded old-school gumball light on top, MFP across the bumper and the "Maintain Right badge on the door, and chrome baby moon hubcaps as a second entry...if we do the contest. Tomorrow, the studio is going on a field trip to go see it in the afternoon as sort of a team-building event. Should be fun.

I think they did pay a little homage to Max with Snot Rod. It's the orange F+F Challenger that has the roots/Hilborn blower setup with 8 zoomies. Every time he sneezes, flames shoot from the zoomies, the blower winds up, and he takes off leaving rubber.

Good goin' Doug. Congratulations. Did it have the badge at least on the driver side...this time??? Lol. Skype me tonight if you could, or call at work...Cheers.
