What was it like the first time you saw any of the 3 Mad Max films (how old ya were, where did you watch it, etc)?
I first saw MM2 on HBO on afternoon afterschool. It was around 1984 and I was only 11 or 12. I clicked on just when Hummongus pulls up to the compund with the valient scouts mounted to the grill. But just then Mom came home and I figured she'd want me to watch something more "sensible", so I switched channels as fast as I could. I've been hooked ever since...

I remember the first time I ever had a chance to see it was in the late 80's when it came on TV. I have also been hooked ever since then.

Ah, it was clear night in Boulder Colorado when my father and I watched Mad Max 2 on channel 7, I was about 4 or 5. I fell in love with the car chase at the end and forced my parents to buy the film from our local blockbuster. I saw Thunderdome when I was like 10, it was okay, but I didn't like it that much, still bought it though. I saw Mad Max when I was about 6 or 7, I actually didn't like it at first, then I came to my senses and fell in love with the black interceptor, I have been watching the films constantly ever since.

I saw thunderdome first about 2 years ago. I HATED it! My aunt loved all 3 of the movies so she made me watch the other two. Boy am I glad she made me watch those! I LOVED the movies! Since then, I have probably spent about $700 on Mad Max stuff (movies...8 different copies, 4 leather jackets, a pair of engineer boots, games that resembled Max, figures for making custom Max figs{those didn't turn out too good, so I chucked em} Model kits, Web space for my site, Magazines, books{Mad Max 1, Road Warrior, Thunderdome-US, and Thunderdome Australian}and at least one copy of every mel movie except for summer city, mrs. stoffel, and the farm{I think that's the name of it...rented it from Blockbuster and turned it off 1/2 way thru cuz I hated it! And, well, I guess that's about it.) I'm still in hot pursuit of Mad Max stuff, though!!!!!

I saw MM2 years ago. I was just a kid, and I was at my grandparents house
for the weekend. They had cable TV years before we did. I don't remember which
channel was showing it, but I got to see it uncut. It wasn't until some time later
that I realized it was actually a sequel to another movie. I figured the stuff in
the beginning was just put there as a sort of "backstory"
I also remember me and my friends ("me mates" to those south of the equator) waiting in
feverish anticipation for MM Beyond T-dome to come out, and high tailing it for the
nearest theatre when it did.

1979: 14 years old. Reading "starlog"-- a sci-fi magazine. It has a one paragraph blurb about a newly released Oz movie.
Something about the "near future" and the cops/highway patrol chasing the bad guys in "souped-up cars and choppers". It showed the still of the explosion when night rider buys it, with the 55 gallon drun blown sky high.
I can still remember how cool that movie sounded. A couple of months later, it was released in the US by American International, (dubbed). There was a great ad on TV showing, the Impala slaughter, shot of Max's XB burnout, closeup of the blower, and that great shot of the 2 bikes passing under the bridge on which Max is standing.
It was only released to the Drive-in that summer, no friends drove, so I didn;t see it. Read the reviews in Newsweek/Time though. Pretty cool. I'll post them if interested. (No I don;t have them in a scrapbook, but they are available at the local library.) Finally came on cable TV, watched it all six times. Yow! Loved it, just wanted more (action, cars etc.)
1982: Saw a print add for Road Warrior. This one showed a stylized Tanker with shoulder down drawing of Wez and Max. I looked and saw the sawed-off--NO WA-- a sequel?? Yep.That summer, took a friday off from work to go see it at the Matinee. WOW. Went to see it again a couple of days later.
1985: Thunderdome--Came out of the theatre and tried to commit suicide. Best Charlton Heston Voice: DAMN YOU! DAMN YOU ALL TO HELL!"

I remember my first time. I was 17, and it was prom night. My date was the head cheerleader, and had major assets. After the dance, we went back to my parent's house. As luck would have it, they were out of town for the weekend. On the way there, I stopped at the store to buy some batteries. I put on some soft music and... wait a minute, what was the question again??

I first learned about the movie Mad Max when I went into my parents room and they were watching it, I was like 5, so my mom said I had to leave because it was rated R.
All I can remember from when I went in and saw the TV was a yellow car chasing a black car, someone firing a gun, then the black car hitting its brakes and then I left.

MM1...On HBO around 1980 ...it was on sorta late at night and I sneaked out to watch it [with the sound almost all the way down]...I think I actualy had nightmares inspired by the scene where Max visits the severly burnt Goose in the hospital...
MM2...I first remember hearing about it on "Siskal and Ebert"'s movie review TV show [both gave it two thumbs up!]...I didn't actualy see it until a year later on HBO...
MM3...I was 15 at the time and my family dragged us kids out to L.A. for our 'summer vacation'...this was at the time the movie opened and my brother, sister and I got to see it opening day with about 300 other MM fans...Later on that week we paid a visit to "Universal Studios" and did the tour thing...At one point there is an area where they have various film cars on display [like 'cars of the stars'] and to my delight listed amoung the attractions a "vehical from the Mad Max film series" was on display!...I imeadiently rushed in to have a look ...
The car was just a 'mock up' and looked to be based on an 1967-1969 Camaro or something... it was dirty looking and covered with pipes and hoses and though it looked like something that could have been in MM2 it obviously wasn't
[I later found out that it was 'inspired' by the MM series...I had misread the sign]
