Deleted Scenes II

Post by Thunderdome »

Hi all,

I was wondering if anybody has any info on the "supposed" deleted scene from Thunderdome. It's been discussed on the boards and it's the scene where Aunty Entity and the two guards come up to Max after he saves the children and she says the "Raggedy man" line. Supposedly one of the guards drops Max's jacket to him.

Can anyone talk about that scene that knows about it. It's really interesting but the only problem is that when Max gets up and starts walking towards the screen, there's no jacket at his feet or around him.

I believe the only deleted item from Thunderdome was...the intelligent script! Image Just joking and yankin' the chain of all of you "Thunderdomers"!

There's also that scene when that podgy boy Gekko (is that his name?) dies in the desert. A few pics of it can be seen in the video "We don't need another hero" and it's also in the novel.Image
I could probably make it on my own, but I like you kids.

The Gecko dying scene is indeed in the novel and the music video, it is also with picture in the illustrated storybook (lovely little item is that!).

Indeed he is just visible in the theatrical cut of Thunderdome, he is being dragged along in the backgound as Max runs to the sinkhole and when they are all together at night he is in that snuggle up.

It also explains the mysterious appearance of his sonic stick from out of nowhere!

I believe there was also another deleted scene which was Max dreaming of Jessie just before he gets woken up to be told that Savannah et al have escaped into the nothin.

No pics or mentions of that bar my knowledge though......

Of course if we ever get a decent special edition DVD release with all the deleted scenes on it then we would know!

Update to previous post, I have found my (none too good) scan I did of the cut Gecko death scene:

Currently on my work server at the moment, will move it later possibly with a better scan to boot.

theres alot of scenes cut out of THUNDERDOME.

Like someone mentioned up top WE DON'T NEED HERO has that GEKKO scene, its also got a couple of shots of MAX's face that arn't in the movie.

ONE OF THE LIVING clip i think has a couple too, I have both of these clips, but haven't watched them in a while.

i got a picture too, from some mag, of AUNTY running through some fire, obviously during the fall of BARTERTOWN, which i think is a scene where the COLLECTOR falls from a tower or something, and she comes to check on him, or something.

Never noticed that before. Wow! Image

I was always irritated by the sudden disappearance of that important character and by the fact that he didn't follow the other children in their quest. Image

Man, this dying scene never should have been deleted.Image

I mean, in the final cut of BTD, it looks just like that Gekko isn't supposed to follow Max & Co to Bartertown.

Why was this substantial scene deleted? Surely because they didn' want to show a dying kid in a film made for a public of children.Image
