Hello. I am an independant comic book writer, with my own small press comic book company set to launch late this year. I was wondering if anyone here might know how to contact Kennedy/ Miller to discuss the possibility of licensing Mad Max for comic books, perhaps as a new outlet for "Fury Road". wjile we are on the subject, would any one here be interested in seeing Mad Max return in comic book form? Hope you'll can help!

I for one would find a Comic adaptation of Max's adventures interesting as long as they were kept realistic.
(I.E. No Mutants or anything like that)
I've no idea on how to contact Miller or anyone actually connected.
Perhaps one of the others..
If you don't mind a suggestion?
Don't forget your Research!
Real World accuracy was one of Miller's goals in creating the first movie.
(The exception being the Blower Switch on the BoB)
So anything you put in the story line.. Please research.
Whether it's Wildlife, the effects of Radiation or Auto Mechanics..
Research is very important.

Yes, that was one of the key elements that made the "Mad Max" movies such a sucess, in my opinion, was the sense that this could very well be a possible future. I also would not be interested in doing a monthly, as I fear that Max's unfolding story would become stagnant...I think 1-2 minis a year would suffice. There is quite a gap in between all 3 movies that could be filled in.
If by some great stroke of luck this some how becomes a reality, I assure you that I will do research on any outlandish idea I might have, but will most especially do the research on Max's homeland as I am a Yankee. The key to remember is thta, despite all the hoopla, the movies were not about customized cars, a fading culture and emerging monstrosity, not even about the end of the world, but rather about a man, a man who finds it in himself to do what is right in a world that has long forgotten the meaning of the word.

I reckon you could go to MILLER's website, and Email him, theres a link off the MAD MAX FAQ, and if it ain't there, i'm sure it'll be somewhere in google.
I personally, before seeing any Fictional storys, would like to see Movie adaptions first, in particular of ROAD WARRIOR. That way you can have all the cool sh*t in it from the movie, but also make up bits and pieces that were in the script and not the movie, like the whole opening scene where MAX disturbs WEZ, and the VERMIN marauding the farmhouse, which starts the whole chase off.

Funny you should mention that, as movie adaptations of the first 3 films were actually part of my proposal. Just in case any one out there hasn't seen them yet, it could catch them up to speed. Here in America, there seems to be a lot of people who have "heard" of the films, but not too many that I've run into who have actually seen them. Damn shame. Too busy with "The Matrix", I suppose.
Yes, adaptations would be nice...especially to include the deleted scenes like you mentioned. All 3 are rife with them! Also, as stated before, this could perhaps be the outlet for "Fury Road" since the movie is dead in the water.
Looked for Miller's website; couldn't find it. Any one have a mailing address out there?

sh*t, i dunno why it ain't up on the MAD MAX FAQ anymore, i saw an original MAD MAX 4, proposed logo poster on there in MILLERS office, couple years ago, had some cool 'MAX' related links too.
If ya can't get in touch with him, maybe just start a total uncopyrighted 'fan' one. sell it exclusively on a website or something - thats what they did on BLACKEST HEART MEDIA's website, they wanted to see a comics of the LUCIO FULCI ZOMBIE films, so they made their own, sold good too, they made about 4 of them.

Great minds must think alike. I've already contacted MGM about trying to get the comic book rights for Mad Max. It seems like a slow and laborious task, but not impossible. Good Luck, if I don't secure them, I hope you can.

I like the comic ideas. But as was said, keep it real. No mutants. No talking animals.
But a suggestion on artowrk, if I may. Stay away from anything that looks like superhero stuff. Overly stylized crap. In my opinion something more along the lines of Timothy Bradstreet or Katsuhiro Otomo (Akira). More realistic, but get very moody. Maybe even like 'Preacher'.

Hey KennedyMiller,
Not that you need my two cents worth, but if you are looking for an illustrator / inker, and if you don't mind me name-dropping one of my buddies, I suggest you look at Ramon Perez's work. He has done quite a lot with Palladium books' Rifts series, and their Nightbane series, too. He has also done a lot of work for Steve Jackson Games, and has a weekly online comic called butternutsquash. I have always thought that his style would really compliment the Mad Max universe.

Good luck with this project, dealing with MGM or any major studios for copyrights can be a real pain, not to mention expensive as hell. I have been waiting for close to 3 years and have dolled out close to 20k in attempting to get the rights to produce a Ghost Rider and Devil Dinosaur and Moon Boy CGI based movies from Marvel Comics. Without money and the right person to do the litigation for you its a major hassle. Ever since they released the Blade and Spider-Man movies, Marvel has been really hardcore about making as much money as they can from any character they have the rights to whether its someone popular or not. Basically its a fact of money talk bullsh#t walks.
As stated earlier, many people here in the states have heard of Mad Max but have never actually seen the movies and this would be great concept to see or to even work on. I have often thought about doing something similar but in a cgi based eviroment. A while back Image Comics (Spawn) released a series of fan made comics that were a pretty big hit. Also a company called Devils Due may be interested in a project like this, a while back Max made it on the boards there and had some surprising reactions to it.. http://www.devilsdue.net
