Anyone know of any replicas of Wez's Z1 or know where I could get some decent pictures of it as I'm gonna try and build one.

look all over the MAD MAX FAQ, dude, theres some on there, m,aybe not as detailed as ya'd like, but ok.

From what I can see it looks like a KZ1000 circa 1980 or 1981 because it has the squared off tank. The fairing is from a Suzuki Katana 1100 from 81 just as the FAQ says. These are rare bikes, and finding a junk fairing to ressurect will probably be pretty tough. Reproduction fibreglass may be available though. The wheels and forks look stock KZ just weathered to look pretty old.





Since you are in the UK, just so you know there was a 750cc model (at least here in the US) that was a dead ringer for the 1000. Same tank, 4 cylender, etc. That might be a less expensive way to go if you have to liscense by displacement. You wouldn't really loose any performance either with a single rider.


I ride an old Z1 and a buddy of mine had the 750 and he could stay right with me all day on it.

Wez's bike is a Z1 R mod. 78, easily recognizable at its frame and at its black engine. The fairing is just an allusion to a Suzuki Katana 1100.
