Jeese, i thought he loved it more than that, judging by his ranting about it on MAD MAX Region 1 DVD.

$40, 000 though? thats a bit rich.

I think it is a perspective thing.

(Please take no offence rockatansky4073 )

$40,000 AUD when viewed in perspective that might not be to bad, depends on the cars condition. In Australia we are so used to buying cars that people are willing to loose tens of thousands of dollars on that we are insulted if we have to pay the "correct" price. We seem to expect that if some one spends $40,000 plus on a build -up that we have a right to purchase the car for about $10,000 and then complain at that!

My own 351 road going coupe had over $25,000 dollars of receipts with it, and I paid $11,500 for it.

Lucky me.. but I.. like everyone just expect the owner to take a massive loss on the car.

On the Japan replica we actually stopped counting the money after the car went past $45,000 in PARTS ALONE!

We actually do not know what it cost to build in just parts alone but it must have been around the $50,000 mark.

If we were to do an XB for door replica to the same like new standard, I could easily see $35-40,000 being chewed up, on what you ask?.. God knows.. but if any of you guys build one (or any restoration build up will do) sadly .... you will find out!

Michael's price might actually be fair for a like new car. I have never seen it (not even on the DVD was that an Easter egg?)... needs new spoilers but.
Cheers

I was recently informed that, LEGEND is YOU MICHAEL, am i right? if so, hope i didn't piss you off or anything, it was just my opinion.

Yeah your right, Gord, that makes sense, though the last time i saw a FALCON even close to that price, was a Supercharged Genuine GT, XB Coupe, and that was $20,000. I still got the newspaper clipping was down here in Hobart.

The interview with RENNIE is on the Doco on the REGION 1 DVD, ' MAD MAX the Film Phenomenon'. its a pretty brief interview, but they show everything in and on the car, and show him driving it down the street, actually PETER's put screen grabs of the scene in RENNIE's section of the REPLICA's PAGE on the FAQ.

I also got a STREET HEAT mag from a few years ago wih a feature of him and his Replica in it, he still argues it could possibly be the original MAX INTERCEPTOR.

Hi Rockatanski.

I checked out the DVD again last night because Grant said he had seen the section you mention.

I had seen Michaels car in pictures of course but never on film, It looks pretty clean.

But it still needs new spoilers.

That GT you mentioned with the blower must be a classic example of an owner taking a massive dollar loss on a car, a correctly built blown Cleveland would be almost 15,000 alone, that makes the remaining $5000 a cheap coupe.

Also I was in Hobart a few months ago. My Wife and I were on Holiday but still I went and saw that Brock/Richards A9X pro-mo car in the museum. We went up Mt wellington and Annette had her eyes shut as we drove up to the top... it freaked her. But it was a perfect day clear and sunny, great view.

WELLY for weeks, it been covered in snow, one of the coldest winters we've had in years. it is a scary drive though, aye? roads too narrow, especially if theres someone coming the other way, who doesn't want to give up their space.

what did ya think of my fare little town? little being the operative word, but i love it, nice and quiet.

Hey Rockatanski..

We loved Tasmania, I had been there a few times before (as a younger me... another world and life as a push bike racer). I raced the National championships in Hobart way way back in 1973, ( I was 15), I raced in Tassie again a couple of years later, rode a few selection trials and stuff in Tassie over the next 2 decades.

A bit cold for me is Tasmania. To cold and wet for me to live there. But the scenery is great we did all the tourist walks. That tree top walk and stuff. went to Cradle mountain and again a picture perfect day, crystal clear still and sunny .. just brilliant. We were there for 2 weeks in April this year. We checked out all the famous water falls. And on one over night stop we found Platypus swimming in the stream behind our room but I can't remember the name of what town that was.

Saw a Tassie devil... they are quite small creatures really. Tasmania is a cool place in more ways then one.. actually for us the weather was not to bad, colder than Perth as you would expect but the mountains and the rivers are just brilliant. I could understand how you love it.

Yeah, we got probably the harshest winters in AUSTRALIA, right now sitting here writing this , its 6.00 at night and its 4 degrese, i've gone through 4 ton of wood so far, and it don't start warming up till late October. But our Summers are gorgeous and the warm lasts up till about april, but nobody bothers to visit the state in Summer, so we continue to be a freezing, but good looking state to the rest of the world.
