YOUR FIRST CAR.

Post by rockatansky4073 »

Anyone who bothered to read recently ADRIEN's - DOES ANYONE KNOW THIS PERSON, thread, may have read that i pranged my car recently.

well i thought i'd take the opportunity, to find out what everyones first car's were. the only reason i'm interested is, because, I seriously can't get my first car (The one i banged up last week - a 1984 NISSAN BLUEBIRD TRX SERIES 3.) out of my head, i'd only had it about 3 years, but f**k me, i loved it, i mean who doesn't want a real XB GT HARDTOP.? but you know we gotta start somewhere and thats where i started, it started out my partners, then she braught a MAGNA, so i said i'd take the NISSAN. I tell you what, it was fast, it was the sports model, so it wanted to get to 4th gear in a hurry, I couldn't drag anyone off at the lights, The pick up just wasn't good enough, but on the straights, i had everyone. I once dragged off a VX COMMODORE with a 308. under the bonnet, on the way to the airport. Little P plater wog, was not pleased at all, especially with his 4 mates in the car.

It had a place to put your mobile, and your change, just under the dash, also to the right of you, in a little compartment in the armwrest, you could palce a drink or a small bag of chips (sounds dumb but to me its important to be comfortable in your car, i don't just use my cars to Drive in, I gotta sleep in them from time to time, if i've had a little too much to drink out at that bush barbie, up at ya mates)

I'm tellin' you i loved it, I felt safe in it.

So i hit a bank, and i didn't write it off, but the damages were mopre expensive to fix than what i paid for the thing. So also being unroadworthy with a real f**ked up steering collum, and no front left indicator, i needed to get another fast

( i gotta get around, the missus works so she takes her car, and i gotta pick the kids up from school) so i found in the paper a DATSUN 120 Y COUPE for $300 unregistered. so the dude i sold i baught it off, heard my sob story , and asked what i wanted for the NISSAN, I'd rang around that morning, and the wreckers were only gonna give me $50 to $100 dollars for it, this guy was gonna give me $200. so i said "f**k it alright, come pick it up tommorow, i gotta get some sh*t out of it"

tommorow comes he picks it up, out of curiosity i ask, 'whatchoo gonna do with her', he said 'fix 'er up and giver 'er to me boy as a first car'.

My heart sunk, my first car, i took care of, vacumed out once a fortnite, threw garbage out the window, not on the floor, was going to some little f**king college kid, who was gonna cart his mates around in it, burn holes in the seats, spill bong water on the floor, get mud on the peddles, and probably conceive his first kid in.

That night i couldn't sleep, i almost cried, seriously, i am really depressed about my fist car, its gone, I've been trying to get in touch with the guy tro buy it back, but he ain't around.

Am i an overreacting idiot, or has anyone else out there, been so obsessed with their first car, that they were gonna be buried in it?Image

First car after I got my Driver's Liscence..

A 1976 Mecury Capri. White in color, Four speed transmission & a 2.8 liter V-6

After the engine went on that, I drove several different cars owned by the family business.

My dad & I had been in the market for a car for a Graduation present for me for months.

Then one day, whilst at work at the family business, I look up to see a the corner of a metallic blue fender pull up by the front door.

I recognized it instantly.. A '73 AMC Javelin. Diamond Blue Metallic paint 360 motor & a Pierre Cardin interior package.

With a FOR SALE Sign in the window!

I looked this machine over for a few moments & then went off to find my dad. "I like THIS one" Image

Turned out that HE was looking for ME to show me this interesting car he'd found for me to look at.Image

"Go ahead and run. Run home and cry to mama! Me, I'm Through runnin'!"

I like the JAVELIN, funny enough, i've got this old FANGORIA, from about 84 or something, where these readers write in asking the magazine editor if he knows what kind of car 'MAX drives in the movie THE ROAD WARRIOR', and one guy said a TORINO, and another guy was convinced it was a 73' AMC JAVELIN. he was bloody convinced too, and wouldn't be told different.

It took a NEW ZEALANDER to tell everyone it was an AUSSIE FALCON.

Believe it or not i had a penpal years ago from the US, who's first car was a '68 TORONADO. imagine that, christ being 18 and in control of that , love that car.

Haha I know how you feel Rock, 2 years ago I sold my "dream car" a Ford Series 1 RS Turbo, I'd always wanted an S1 ever since I was kid, so when I finally could afford one I bought one.

I spent 3 years and a lot of money restoring her, anyway to cut a long story short my employers offered me the chance to work on a project in Australia for 18 months, I'd a month to get organised and go, I planned to keep the S1 in the garage at my folks but they weren't keen on the idea so I decider to sell her.

Loads of people came to looked at her, offers where made and feel through, until one day a guy called offering to pay cash and add the S1 to his 'RS' collection, it was perfect I knew she'd be looked after and I was getting cash!!.

Anyway he came paid cash and took her away on a trailer (which impressed me!) and I got on a plane and went to Melbourne happy knowing she was going to a good home ...or so I thought!

So skip 6 months, I land in work one Monday morning open my e-mall to find an e-mail from a mate, turns out the bloke I sold her to had 17 year old son, for story telling purposes we'll call him Richard or Dick for short who fancied himself as the next Colin McRae, Richards parents went on holiday leaving the young scamp home alone, so kids being kids he decide he'd impress his mates by taking a car from his Daddies collection out for a spin.

You guessed it, he took the S1 for a run up Whinney Hill and stuffed her into a telegraph pole, my mates a fireman so was called to the scene to cut young Richard and his mates out of the car, they where thankfully ok apart from a few broken bones and cuts.

me? well I went to a pub after work and drank a few!! Image

My first was a hand me down 1980 Chevy Citation. Wonderful memories, but I wouldn't want it back.

Now, my next "car", the first I ever bought with my own money, I miss terribly. (even my mom misses it!) 1967 Chevy 1/2 ton longbed. 283, 4spd. Flat black, HUGE Roo bar, and headers w/ straight pipes that ended just before the end of the cab. Sucker would rattle your teeth a block away! Finally spun the main bearing, but she'd still fire up and run....sounded like a handful of bolts was bouncing around in the block.....sold her for $275.00. (I paid $600.) Sure would love to have "The Beast" back. Sigh.

Rock, You think that Toranado was a cool first car, my sisters first was a 1967 Cadillac Sedan DeVille. 20 feet of "look out, I'm learning to drive!" what a behemouth! :)

And, hey, Rock.... Don't write off the kid who's getting your ride. Your Bluebird gets to be another kids first automotive love. She was your first, now she's his first. You should be proud! Rather than just getting driven to death by someone who could care less, (or worse, off to the wreckers,) She'll make memories to last a lifetime all over again. I can't think of a better way for her to leave you.

Never had a car.

First bike was (don`t laugh) a Honda 200cc soft-chopper (CM 200T if you must know). Acquired apes, straight through pipes and the usual as long as I had it, met it at a bike meet coupla years later which was a strange feeling, a bit like seeing the ex-wife on the arm of another guy. Any Irish there? Is 955 MNI still about? Had, built and sold many bikes since and it never gets easier. Last one, went to the pub when the buyer came to collect, couldn`t face it. Me n it had been through some crazy times together. It's worse than selling your dog. Or granny. ;-(((((((

Yeah I thought of that 'DICTOR, but his son, is a f**king COMMODORE type.

You Aussie's will know exactly what i mean, you know those little f**ks who just do blockys round the city, stereo's thumping, yelling sh*t, but driving off real quick so you can't go and front 'em. And lets not forget their beloved WUTANG wear.

In other words 'DICTOR, this little sh*t, is just using my Bluey, to thrash out till he gets his dream car, yep, his dad said it, "he wants a commodore", what the f**k is with todays Australian youth, and that car. Seriously when i was around 16/18 the FORD FALCON was still popular with the youth, but these little rap listening generation took over in about 98, and all they want is BROCKY's Ex Image
