Whats with this guy?

By far the most fascinating character in the entire first movie, has gotta be BUBBA ZANETTI. i love all the gang, in particular TOECUTTER, and i love MUDGUTS, he looks like the king of sleeze, "Main coarse and desert" , i think he could give WEZ a run for his money, when it came to cruelty. Yet BUBBA probably gives off the most menace, by just standing there.

The only glimpse at all that he has any human emotion, was when he takes his helmet off at Jurusalem, he lightly touches his hair, and fixes it up (though he had constant helmet hair anyway). yet when he talks to the Station master, he stands behind him, looking almost behind him. He has the manner of an English teacher. Is always up for some action, yet doesn't interact, check him out when the gang pulls the Chevy apart, BUBBA stands and watches, he has an axe or something in his hand, but doesn't use it. When TOECUTTER gets it in the balls by JESSE, BUBBA just looks on as the rest of the gang chase after the Van. Yet he was fiercly loyal to the TOECUTTER, obeying every command, even if he didn't agree with it (like going back to get JOHNNY from MFP. TOECUTTER saw potential in JOHNNY, he thought they could mold him into a new NIGHTRIDER, BUBBA didn't, but he did as he was told anyway).

Yet he's a master marksman. his skill with a gun seems to reflect his manner, its precise, not really quiet, but it's preperation and patience is.

He also dresses the coolest, totally black from neck to steelcapped toes, i love TOECUTTERS boots, with a machete sheathed down the right one, but everything BUBBA wairs just looks cool.

How the hell did they meet? TOECUTTER and BUBBA are obviously close mates, who knows what barbarity they've commited together, but how did they meet, and BUBBA is obviously one of the original members, was it maybe NIGHTRIDER, who seems like TOECUTTER's best mate, who spotted him, what act did BUBBA have to commit to show how staunch he was?

Bugger what happened between MAX 1 and MAX 2, lets find out waht happened before that gang came to Jurusalem...

-Bubba could have been a former soldier, a sniper. Perhaps he eliminated a few politicians and cops, what made his reputation!

-The Toecutters has something dramatic, a former insane actor and a butcher,

Both are a little older than the rest of the gang and have appropriate experience.

Actually we know few about the gang. If the Nightrider was the leader of the gang before Toecutter and a symbol for all armalite gangs and splinter groups, Bubba is the informant. Who can obtain so many informations if it's not an ex-military man?

He knows everything about the MFP activities. Sometimes, people take him as a bronze, which can be useful! However,

he doesn't like the other members of the gang and stays asides. Especially Johnny, who represents everything what Bubba hates: Inability and inexperience.

His only interest is the potential of the Toecutter.

Those are some good points,

I always thought of him as like a Mafia 'CONSIGLIORI', the guy who sets up the meetings, gives the orders from up front, never really gets his hands dirty, cause its not his job.

Kind of like that character in THE CROW - Grange, TOP DOLLAR's private luitenant, he's not with the street level gangsters, he runs things up top when the Boss, is too busy to make an appearance.

Also interesting you say he can sometimes be taken as a Bronze, cause check out his uniform, in particular at MAY's farm, when you can clearly see him from head to toe, it looks alot like a Bronze uniform, in particular GOOSE's, its not as tanned as everyone elses, still pretty glossy. Also his personal appearance is alot neater, he's probably the only member of the gang (aside from JOHNNY) who's shaven, and actually has his hair done.

God, that's actually quite a terrifying idea: Imagine you're being chased by this gang and are trying to hide. You see what looks like an MFP officer nearby and you run over to him in relief....only to find it's Bubba! Shivers....

BUBBA is without a doubt TOECUTTER'S " Capo ". The GO-TO guy that only needs to be told once and gets done what he sets out to do. Does NO justice havin' guys like BUBBA ridining around on rice burnin' Kawasaki cycles but I do understand the lack of low priced Harley-Davidsons available to Austrailian film makers in the late 70's.

Hey dude, you didn't understand the philosophy of the armalite gangs. I couldn't imagine the cold Bubba or another trashman, riding a lame Harley. It's a question of speed. We talk about speed!

I get the feeling that Bubba may have been a former SO19 (or whatever the aussie code for armed response police is) officer. He's good with guns, very level headed and looks after his body well. He always seems washed and clean. He also has quite a cruel streak that I've seen in quite a few coppers that let their power go to their heads.

Maybe he's the person that Max was afraid of becomming?

Had BUBBA not decided he was gonna eat that complete load from MAX'S sawed-off, I believe he would have been in the " Road Warrior " shouting " Just walk away, and I will give you safe passage through the wasteland, Just walk away "

Or he woulda been that BERZERKER in the RED XA, who pulls, WARRIOR WOMAN, down from the truck, wordless, then prepairs to take MAX out with his crossbow, fearless.

rice-burnin' Kwaka's ?? can you imagine Toecutter and Bubba with flairs and tassells ?? bwahahaha mate they needed bikes that can run real hard all night and all day !!! no bike in the world could do it then or now, like them Z900's/Z1000's. Hogs don't rate anywhere except the cruiser's boulevarde.
