'Resistance' 1992
I was looking up 'Mad Max' on the Internet Movie Database a few months ago and noticed that Hugh Keays-Byrne co-directed and appeared in a 1992 film 'Resistance.' I got a copy shipped in from a second-hand store in the US and was pretty impressed. Without spoiling the plot too much, if you are a fan of the original Mad Max then this story sits pretty neatly beside it. There is a little car action, but it is much more thoughtful and could almost provide a backdrop to why society has partially collapsed and be a prequel to MM1. If you are more into RW and Thunderpants then I think you'd proabably be bored by this one.
Apart from H K-B appearing, Tim Burns and Vince Gil are also in the film along with a few faces I recognised from 'Neighbours' and 'Chopper Squad.' Robyn Nevin who take a key role in 'Resistance' recently appeared as one of the Zion councillors in 'The Matrix Reloaded.'
Anyway, if you are a die-hard MM fan, I'd recommend 'Resistance.'
