hey im new here, and ive spent most of my time absorbing info. from past posts and from this website about the cars of the films. anywho im somewhat young, but the look of the black interceptor is just, breathtaking. anywho i would love to build a replica, but since im somewhat inexperienced and low on cash i was wondering what other model cars could end up looking like an interceptor.......it doesnt have to be 100% the same. i guess the 2 most important things would be the grill area and the rear end of the car. from my research it looks like, torinos, mustangs (how bout fox bodies), novas, javelins, etc. are all candidates, but what would be the best in my case?? (in your opinion)
thanks for your help!!

forgot to mention that as i grow older ill be adding more mods, but the 2 most important things as far as replicating the looks would be the front grille and light area and the rear of the car and the hood stuff.
bang.

I'm not american, but i hear the TORINO is one of the closest's, or a CHEVY NOVA, i saw in a film recently looked alot like a FALCON.

Save your money and get the real thing...there's no substitute.
If you don't have a lot of cash, but are willing to do the body and engine work, one in OK condition can be had. Try Terry at madmaxcars.com or Phil at aussiecoupes to see what they can offer you.
I mulled around the idea of a 70 Torino GT-based "US Interceptor" for years. I looked at the Torino 429CJ, a 69 Nova SS 396, a 72 Plymouth Road Runner 440 and the 69 Mark Donahue Javelin 401...but decided on the real thing. It wasn't until 1995 that you could even import one over here, hence the US substitutes. But, I figure, if you're going to do it...do it big (and right).
Granted, mines not going to be 100% movie correct, but that's because I simply want to personalize it to my tastes.

You could of course build you own "Mad Max Inspired Vehicle" you could take what inspiration and features you wanted from the Original Gt Interecptor, but build the car your way with your body choice on your budget.
For Instance A black Dodge Charger with a stripped out interior and a roll cage would have a real mean look to it, then you could add your own details, Body kit ala Interceptor, MFP radio lookalike, MFP stickers etc. You never know it might end up looking cooler than the Interceptor itself!

If you can find a '71 -'73 Mustang Mach 1 fairly cheap, you can do a pretty good Interceptor substitute. I have pics of mine, but no way to post them on here. Other options include a '71-'74 AMC Javelin/AMX, the Torino fastback (same era), and the Montego GT. For the Yellow Pursuits/Interceptor, look for a '71-'74 Hornet or Maverick sedan. Unfortunately, these cars are becoming as rare as Aussie Falcons.
Look under Yahoo groups for Apocalyptic Custom Cars or something like that. It's all about Mad Max inspired American cars.
