Most glaring, obvious, annoying errors

Post by ddavidv »

No film is perfect...as much as we love the trilogy there are certain things that are just wrong. Continuity errors, production errors, etc. I'm not talking about theoretical story errors or "Did Jessie die or not?". List yours below; herewith is my biggest pet peeve from MM1:

Ever notice that Nightrider's car passes by the caravan blocking the road with no apprent reduction in speed, nor does it leave the pavement?

Look at the post-crash scene and you can see there is no way he could get around it without going to turf, which is never shown nor hinted at. I mean, if Nightrider could do it, so could Roop & Charlie.

This isn't something that ruins the film for me, just one of those "What the--but---???" things.

it also had no driver and a rocket engine jammed in the boot. Works for me !

Something to ponder - the Origin of our Hero.....Before the MFP......before chaos.....

Aussie board members will (may?) have heard of the great aussie biker cult movie Stone. Maybe even its found its way o/seas as well ........

Great movie, bikers doing crazy biker things, etc etc. undercover biker cop, plenty good stunts, plenty actors who later starred in MM1 ( Toecutter - Toad, Nightrider - Dr Death, Fifi - Hooks, (he had hair in this gig lol), and something else........

Recently saw the Stone DVD, there is a great drectors slide show, includes still shots of all the bikers who rode with the Gravediggers..........................

................................................including one called 'Bad Max'.

Sandy Harbutt (director), during the slide show, made some oblique reference to one of his biker gang later becoming very famous in Aussie movies...... could it be ?? was Max a feral Gravedigger in an earlier life ???

check it out.

I always hated the yellow interceptor laying on its roof up the road, while the yellow interceptor that was gonna crash onto its roof , approached it.

In the late '80's the local channels would play MM1 yet have the sequence of events out of order. To insert commercials they would break the picture into segments that had Toecutter reappearing after death and Cundalini with a regrown hand. Lovely.

How about in the final scenes of MM2 the Big Rig is just rolling over and the righthand exhaust stack comes off. Yet when Max awakes, the same stack is seen swinging out the rear window.

one of the worst is still that tiny shot of the INTERCEPTOR with its front missing just before hitting the LANDAU, losing its front.

I guess that we are fortunate to live in an age of Video's and DVD's that allow us to repeatedly watch the film until we notice these things.

I would assume that back then, directors were happy to kludge details in action films because they thought only of a cinematic release and how the fans might not notice these details due to all the other action up on the silver screen.

i just don't think they noticed them, i mean some films have such glaringly obvious ones, or such large numbers of them like GLADIATOR, or TERMINATOR 2. that it makes you wonder.

i just remembered another real bad one, that isn't much mentioned in lists and sh*t. when the VERMIN arrive at the compound , they show us a close up of everyone getting out or off their vehicles, in particular WEZ, they show get off his bike and step up a little, noticing MAX, then everybody rev's in announcement of their LORD , and after that theres a long shot from inside the walls of the compound, and again all the vermin start to dismount their vehicles, which they all did already in the closeup.

Also, check out the body on the bonnet of the RED XA at the compound gates. When WEZ throws the boomerang back at the FERAL, the body twitches, probably thought it was gonna hit him.

I hate the part where, during the final Big rig Chase Of RW, you can see the stuntman's head popping up behind max's leg after Wez rips off the cab door. Oh Well, nothing's perfect.
