guns in the Mad Max trilogy
In Mad Max, we see only Max and Roop carry weapons. Both have double-barrelled shotguns, which could be standard issue (or was there only one double-barelled shotgun?) Roop has a rifle with a scope at the start, and later we see Max owns a pistol. Are these issued to all MFP officers or do they carry their own guns?
Later, we see that Toecutter wields a shotgun in a few scenes. What does he do with it? And is he serious when he says: "I hate guns".
Bubba Zanetti carries a Mauser with a scope. Why doesn't he use it to take out Max for good? Or is he more intent on torture.
Mad Max 2 - Now it gets really interesting. Guns and ammo seem to be scarce. Max still has his shotgun but has to scavenge to find shells. Why does the dead Marauder carry shells? Is it because he also owns a shotgun? If so, why didn't he use it on the snake? (Maybe he did, the snake was dead when they found it)
Also, Rebecca has shotgun shells. Maybe shotguns are popular in the Mad Max universe.
And none of the Maruaders carry guns, except Humungus, who has something like a 44 Magnum with a scope but only 5 bullets to use it with.
MM3 - Max is seen to carry LOTS of guns. Did he get them from scavenging? All Aunty's gaurds seem to use a mixture of crossbows and weird looking guns. It doesn't seem to fit somehow unless all these weapons truly were scavenged.
Anyway, Mad Max has never been too big on guns, which is refreshing for an action film.

I always thought the guy in Mad Max 2 who was killed by the snake didn't have a shotgun, only the shells.
Shotgun shells are surprisingly easy to make. You don't need to melt any metal down or anything. That's probably why they're so popular in the movies.
A number of years passed between Road Warrior and Thunderdome. Who knows where Max has been and who he's killed in that amount of time. Obviously he has to scavenge them.
The crossbows, to me, symbolize mankind's reversal in technology. They're going back to medieval times, that's why all the medieval looking weapons.

In my book, that's why the final battle (and to a certain extend, the Audition and the Thunderdome fight) has been fought by fryin' pans and any other object in sight... it was sort of philosophy... you have to be a "MacGyver" - ingenuity and improvisation - in order to keep yourself alive in the 15 years older Wasteland shown in THUNDERDOME. Max was this way.
Weapons are no longer. I think the Guardsmen were really careful about the ammo they had... that's why they didn't use them too much in the movie.

I think I also saw Roop with a .357 snub during an accident scene. But very smart to stay with the shotgun, I think, considering the guys they're up against.
And yeah Bubba is a sick puppy who wanted to torture Max a bit. Maybe he got a little cocky too. But we all know what happened to him.

The one weakness with crossbows is the bowstring, it rubs the rail and wears out real quick......

MAX had a rifle too, when him and goose pull up at the 'chevy' wreck to find johnny, he lays it up against the seat johnnys sitting on. I always thought the MFP. had the sidearm revolver we baught up in the thread i started a couple of months ago - THE MISSING THINGS. the double barrel sawn off for running renegade cars off the roads, and the rifle just sitting in the cars, who knows what for, just an extra piece for safety, or long range tyre shooting of cars or something.
I also saw the introduction of bows and crossbows as a 'going back to the darkages' thing. but also you can always make ammo for them, and you can repair them easily.
not that its got anything to do with anything but being a showoff, but i've got the exact same camberflarge PHASER compound bow WARRIOR WOMAN points at max when he enters the compound, coo huh.

As far as i know only three. the large everyday (non compound) crossbows. AUNTY's mini handheld crossbow, and WEZ, BEARCLAW, half the VERMIN and a couple of auntys gaurds, gauntlet wrist crossbows, which were made out of the same mini crossbows aunty had.
as well as that gas powered gun that the passenger in the LANDAU had, which was borrowed by the GAYBOY BERZERKER that was on the roof of the truck at the end.
The giant harpoon gun in the compound.
And the gas powered four pak dart gun on the back of the VALIANT, also borrowed by the COBRA TOWTRUCK.
Then in THUNDERDOME aside from the odd normal crossbow, we had the harpoon gun FLOPPYBAR commandered on the back of that buggy.
probably more, but thats all i can remember right now, without sitting there with the PAUSE button.

Humungus's pistol was a Colt python hunter, They came from the factory with a scope.

I'm not sure if HUMUNGUS's is a COLT PYTHON, i don't have any evidence to back this up, well i probably do, its just i can't be bothered looking through all my HANDGUNNER mags.
the barrel doesn't look long enough for starters, and i don't think they were made in black, (though i guess whats stopping them from painting it).
