Toecutter's Hiss/Rattle

Hey, this has probably been covered before, but I keep forgetting to ask this question: What exactly is that hiss/rattle noise that Toecutter makes about 3 or 4 times during MM1? I think it even makes that sound once when Johnny the Boy was captured at the wreck, too. Is that a special effect noise? Something added to show effect? Or is it supposed to be a noise that Toecutter and his gang makes? I don't remember it actually being shown as coming from their mouths, thats why I ask...

yeah ive always wondered the same thing. yeah, it doesnt sound human. it seems to represent the gang...quite odd

obviously somekind of sound effect, but i ain't sure what it means, sounds cool though. I think somebody did bring this up somewhere before, but i can't remember what the verdict was

I have wondered too! It is one of the unique effects in MM1. It gives strange athosphere those scenes.

Also when Max survives Toecutters trap, when Max shots Bubba, Toecutters "haaah" (or something like that) is also cool, and when i first saw MM1 (age 10) it was very scary.

i'm sure you guys have read that superb EMPIRE mag article on MAD MAX, well if you haven't , aparently HUGH KEYES BYRNE, called MILLER over to him during the filming of that scene, and said "hey whaddya think of this HAAAAAAAAAAAAA:" and just thought of it on the spot as a way to taunt max, luckily miller went for it, cause its awesome, plus without it i woulda had nothing to do to kids in primary school.

Can anyone do summary of EMPIRE mag article of Mad Max, or is it in the internet somewhere?

I saw that mag at autumn, but i didnt buy it. Stupid

I look for library, maybe its there.

try THE FAQS magazine section, you may be able to click onto it, and read it as i've found you can do with some of the articles on there.
