about how much does it cost to have one built, including the car's cost? if i ever have enough money, i would seriously consider doing it. the blower and its switch will have to be fully functional though hehe. i know that can be done, just gotta find someone who would be able to make it work.

Turn-key, movie caliber, about $40-45k.

Less if you can do a lot of the work yourself. You're going to have a little fun trying to make a functional Weiand 6-71 switchable on demand, though. Image

I think that $40-$45K is fairly reasonable these days but that would probably be the price for having most of the work done for you (which is much faster and less headaches). I will have about $25K Canadian

TOTAL cost into my car when done but keep in mind I started collecting parts when things were much cheaper...

Yeah, those were the prices for completed cars quoted by the guys at aussiecoupes.com and madmaxcars.com. Unfortunately, that's a bit more cash than I have laying about at present.

Hey Doug, thanks for your emailed advice. I may end up going with a solid Falcon with the basic fiberglass work done and taking it from there myself. I think the biggest hurdle left is convincing the missus that I need one of these beasts.

Always glad to help... and just for anyone getting any wrong impressions... I'm not in any way cutting down those building turn key cars. We've all seen the amazing end results.

There's about 15 Interceptor replicas here in the US, I think. About 40-50 XA-XB-

XC Falcon coupes and sedans total, including stock and modified, maybe. A few Landaus I know of...

There is at least one replica in the UK (Adrian's), and I don't know how many in OZ/NZ. This is not counting the Yellows.

I have a John Goss Special that may be turned into an Interceptor replica, but I may just get another XB and restore this one. I'm sure there are some other owners on here.

oh ok, thats cool. you should turn it into a replica. how could you even have to put thought into that! haha just kidding, i know its expensive. if i ever get one, it will definitely have a working blower and switch so i can turn it on and off as should be the case (dont know who will do it, but i will find a way). thats so damn cool to me. someday... Adrian, ever think of doing this?

A couple months ago, there was an involved discussion on the feasibility of making an 'on/off' blower. The technical challenges are difficult, and possibly not worth the effort. A supercharged 351C should provide enough power and 'coolness' without the added maintenance headaches, etc.

Check back into the discussion forum under Film Cars and Replica Cars for the appropriate topic.
